Gas prices continue to climb, going from $3.47 to $4.37 in the last month

DORAL, FL – Gas prices in Florida continue to skyrocket this Friday. According to AAA, drivers in Florida are now paying $4.37 per gallon, while at some gas stations they were paying $3.47 just a month ago.

“We are seeing a lot of movement in oil prices, it was extremely erratic overnight,” Mark Jenkins, AAA representative, said.

The new numbers for today represent three cents from yesterday and the national average has also climbed by about two cents, reaching to $4.33 per gallon.

“It’s just been a roller-coaster ride that we as consumers are being taken on and unfortunately there’s really not a lot we can do about it, but just look for some ways to try to shave off a few cents here and there,” Jenkins added.

Gas prices are reaching these parameters as a result of the Russian attack on Ukraine. Just during the first week of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the price of regular gas rose by almost 41 cents, as per AAA’s findings.

“As Russia’s war on Ukraine continues to evolve and we head into a season where gas prices typically increase, Americans should prepare to pay more for gas than they ever have before,” Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis for GasBuddy, said in a statement.

All of this while the federal government has taken his decisions in the face of the Russian-Ukraine war. “Today I am announcing the United States is targeting the main artery of Russia’s economy. We’re banning all imports of Russian oil and gas and energy,” Biden said. “That means Russian oil will no longer be acceptable at U.S. ports and the American people will deal another powerful blow to Putin’s war machine.”
