The Senate just introduced the Immigration Bill.

The bipartisan Senate immigration reform bill that was introduced this week gives me hope that our legislators have America’s best interest as their priority. Hope that lawmakers from both parties will come together to pass a common sense immigration process and find a solution for undocumented immigrants, businesses, families, and indeed for all of America.
Is the bill the Senate Gang of Eight put forward everything we wanted?
No. But it is a good start on the path toward legislation that will fix our current patchwork of mismanaged and broken immigration laws which tear families apart and hurts American businesses. As an immigration attorney I know firsthand the positive effects a bill like this could have for the people and businesses in our community.
This is just the beginning of the process, and many obstacles will crop up to impede progress in the coming weeks and months. However, in the midst of unprecedented public support for immigration reform and the need to see meaningful change to address our economic and societal needs, we need to stand together, overcome any obstacles, and see real immigration reform done.
If our legislators continue to put America’s best interest first, I am certain that both the Senate and the House will come to an agreement soon.
Acaban de introducir la propuesta de Inmigración en el Senado!

La propuesta bipartidista del Senado que fue introducida esta mañana me da esperanza que nuestros legisladores tienen como prioridad los mejores intereses para EEUU. Esperamos que los legisladores de los dos partidos lleguen a un acuerdo y pasen una reforma migratoria que tenga sentido y encuentre una solución para los inmigrantes indocumentados, negocios, familia y para todos en EEUU.
Es que la propuesta del grupo de los 8 tiene todo lo que queremos?
No. Pero es un buen comienzo hacia un camino de legalización que va a arreglar la existente y deficiente legislación de inmigración la cual divide familias y hace que los negocios en EEUU estén en desventaja. Como abogada de inmigración practicando hace casi 20 años, tengo la certeza que una legislación como la que fue propuesta hoy día tendría un efecto positivo para la gente y los negocios de nuestra comunidad.
Esto es solo el comienzo del proceso, y muchos obstáculos posiblemente van a relucir e impedir el progreso en los próximas semanas y meses. Sin embargo, en vista de las inigualables manifestaciones del público a favor de una reforma migratoria, y la urgencia de ver cambios significativos para resolver nuestras necesidades sociales y económicas debemos mantenernos unidos, y sobrepasar cualquier obstáculo para obtener una buena reforma migratoria.
Si nuestros legisladores continúan poniendo los intereses de EEUU de primero, estoy segura que tanto el Senado como la Cámara de Representantes van a llegar a un acuerdo pronto.
