Hoax calls of school shootings disrupted classes in South Florida on Tuesday
DORAL, FL – This tuesday started with several calls about potential school shootings across South Florida that turned out to be false. One of them involved a school in Doral.
Ronald Reagan Senior High School in Doral received a hoax call resulting in a code-red lockdown while the police investigated the claims.
Miami Central High was also a target of these fake calls that scared the community and forced parents to pick up their children. “My child called me talking about code red 911,” said Shayna Anderson, a parent, to 7News Miami.
The incident took place just after 9 a.m. when authorities received a call about an adult male shooter in body armor on the second floor of Miami Central High School at 1781 NW 95th St.
Other school shootings hoax call was reported at West Broward High School at 500 NW 209th Ave., where the police found no threat and the lockdown was lifted.
Meanwhile, Boca Raton, Dillard, and Pompano Beach high schools as well as Flanagan High School in Pembroke Pines were also included in the list of schools that reported swatting calls.
About the threats involving local schools, Miami-Dade Police confirmed to 7News that there was no active shooter and that it was a hoax that was called in at several schools.
