Cambridge Scholars of Miami-Dade County recognized at RRDSH
On March 28th took place the Cambridge Scholar Awards Celebration at Ronald W. Reagan/Doral Senior High School.
Representing Cambridge International Examinations at the event were the Regional Director for North America, Mr. Mark Cavone and Sherry Reach, Deputy Regional Director. For Miami-Dade County Public Schools attended Superintendent Alberto Carvalho, who was the keynote speaker of the event, along with Renee Ilhard, Supervisor of Advanced Academic Programs, School Board member Lawrence Feldman and Andreina Espina representing Susie Castillo.
Also in attendance was Mr. John Barnhill, Assistant Vice President for Enrollment Management from Florida State University, who addressed the parents congratulating them for selecting the Cambridge Program for their children, as it is proven to provide the adequate foundations and skills that colleges look for in their prospective students.
During his speech Mr. Carvalho emphasized the importance for students of taking a rigorous curriculum as Cambridge, which fosters critical thinking and curiosity, while cultivating the interest for culture and the respect for diversity. He also congratulated the parents for choosing this program and supporting their children.
At the event 225 students from nine schools in Miami-Dade County that offer the program received their recognition for the extraordinary results obtained on the Cambridge Examinations, including Cambridge Scholar Awards with Merit, with Distinction and High Achievements, Top in the US and Top in the World marks.
Eighty-Seven of the 225 students recognized were from RRDSH, among them: Felipe Cortez, Bruno Gomes and Maria Isabella Sell, who received High Achievement awards; and Esteban Guarnizo, Marcel Klibansky and Isabel Rios-Pulgar who received Top in the U.S. awards.
These recognitions add up to the many accolades received by RRDSH, the best public non-magnet, non-charter, high school in Miami, a demonstration of the high quality of education delivered by Miami-Dade County Public Schools for the residents of the City of Doral.
Estudiantes del programa Cambridge recibieron premios en RRDSH
El 28 de Marzo tuvo lugar la entrega de los premios de Excelencia en el Programa Cambridge del Condado Miami-Dade en la Secundaria Ronald W. Reagan/Doral.
En representación de la organización de Exámenes Internacionales Cambridge, estuvieron presentes en el evento el Director Regional para Norte América, Sr. Mark Cavone y la Sra. Sherry Reach, Subdirectora Regional. Por parte del Sistema de Escuelas Públicas de Miami-Dade asistieron el Superintendente Alberto Carvalho, orador principal del evento, junto a Renee Ilhard, Supervisora de Programas Avanzados, Lawrence Feldman, miembro de la Junta Escolar y Andreina Espina en representación de Susie Castillo, miembro de la Junta Escolar para el Distrito 5 que incluye Doral.
También asistió el Sr. John Barnhill, Vicepresidente de administración de inscripciones de la Universidad Estatal de Florida (FSU), quien felicitó a los padres por seleccionar el programa Cambridge para sus hijos, puesto que está comprobado que proporciona los fundamentos y habilidades que las universidades buscan en sus estudiantes potenciales.
En su discurso, el Sr. Carvalho enfatizó la importancia que tiene para los estudiantes la selección de un currículo riguroso como Cambridge, que estimula el pensamiento crítico y la curiosidad, además de cultivar el interés por la cultura general y el respeto a la diversidad. También felicitó a los padres por escoger este programa para sus hijos y por apoyarlos en este proceso.
Un total de 225 estudiantes de nueve escuelas de MDCPS que ofrecen el programa recibieron premios por sus extraordinarios resultados en los exámenes Cambridge, incluyendo los reconocimientos Cambridge Scholar con Mérito, con Distinción y Logro Extraordinario. También se entregaron los premios de Mayor Calificación en los EEUU y Mayor Calificación Mundial.
Ochenta y siete estudiantes de RRDSH recibieron los reconocimientos, entre ellos Felipe Cortez, Bruno Gomes y Maria Isabella Sell por Logro Extraordinario y Esteban Guarnizo, Marcel Klibansky e Isabel Ríos-Pulgar por Mayor Calificación en los EEUU.
Estos reconocimientos se unen a los que cada año ha acumulado RRDSH, la mejor escuela secundaria pública del Condado Miami-Dade, demostrando la alta calidad de la educación que el Sistema de Escuelas Públicas de Miami-Dade ofrece a los residentes de la Ciudad de Doral.
