The Public Works Department is responsible for the effective and efficient management of stormwater management and drainage systems within the City’s public right-of-way. As part of the effective management of these systems, the Public Works Department implements various programs to maintain, evaluate, and improve stormwater management systems.
The activities, which fall under these programs, include regular street sweepings, catch basin and drainage system cleanup, drainage improvements consisting of new or upgraded stormwater management systems, and studies to evaluate the effectiveness of the most current City systems.
These programs are intended to help minimize the potential for flooding and to maximize safety for our residents, business owners, and visitors. In 2009, the City developed a Stormwater Management Master Plan, which included recommendations for improving the City of Doral’s stormwater management systems. The City enacted an aggressive and proactive program to complete the projects recommended within the study. Currently the City is in the beginning stages of updating the existing Stormwater Master Plan.
It is the intent of the City to review what has been done since 2009, analyze current conditions, and identify future projects to address flooding on public right-of-way based on these current conditions. In order to inform the public and gain valuable feedback from residents and business owners, the City of Doral will host a series of Open House events. The first events will focus on education, and gathering of data and concerns from residents and business owners. City will be divided into 3 sections, Sections A, B, and C (Please see map below). El Departamento de Obras Públicas de la Ciudad de Doral es responsable de administrar eficientemente los sistemas de drenaje de aguas pluviales dentro de las vías públicas de la Ciudad. Como parte de una gestión eficaz de estos sistemas, el Departamento de Obras Públicas implementa varios programas para mantener, evaluar y mejorar el mantenimiento de estos sistemas. Las actividades de estos programas incluyen el barrido regular de las calles, la limpieza de las alcantarillas y del sistema de drenaje. Las mejoras de drenaje consisten en implementar sistemas nuevos o mejorar los existentes, y llevar a cabo estudios para evaluar la eficacia de los sistemas ya implementados. Estos programas están diseñados para ayudar a minimizar el potencial de inundaciones y para aumentar la seguridad de nuestros residentes, dueños de negocios y visitantes. En el 2009, la Ciudad desarrolló un Plan Maestro de Gestión de Aguas Pluviales, que incluye recomendaciones para mejorar los sistemas de drenaje de la Ciudad de Doral. El Ayuntamiento aprobó un programa agresivo y proactivo para completar los proyectos recomendados en el estudio. Actualmente la Ciudad se encuentra en las etapas iniciales de actualizar el Plan Maestro del Sistema de Drenaje. Es la intención de la Ciudad revisar lo que se ha hecho desde el año 2009, analizar las condiciones actuales, e identificar futuros proyectos para hacer frente a las inundaciones en las vías públicas con base a esas condiciones actuales. Con el fin de informar al público y obtener información valiosa de los residentes y dueños de negocios, la Ciudad de Doral llevará a cabo una serie de reuniones “open house.” Los primeros eventos se centrarán en la educación, y la recolección de datos y preocupaciones de los residentes y dueños de negocios. La Ciudad se dividirá en tres secciones: A, B y C (Por favor vea el mapa adjunto). ¡Participe!
