SFLHCC hosts Sustainability & Green Visionary Awards’ Luncheon
DORAL, FL – The South Florida Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (SFLHCC) and the SFLHCC Foundation organized the Annual Sustainability & Green Visionary Awards’ Luncheon at the Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables.
Under the title ‘Green future: Building a Sustainable Tomorrow Today!’, this year’s event highlighted successful company sustainability and eco-friendly practices in the community such as decarbonizing the cement industry by generating fuels from plastic and carbon rejects or creating energy efficiency systems to reduce greenhouse gas emissions of ships.
Other practices shared in the luncheon include handling waste from textiles and other materials responsibly to keep them out of landfills, incentivizing electric vehicles use by rethinking how we use cars and generating micro-business opportunities through sneaker recycling, among others.
Keynote speaker Raquel Regalado, Miami-Dade County Commissioner for District 7, moderator Ana Cuervo, four-time Emmy Award winner journalist, Q&A moderator Irela Bague, Director of Governments and Water Resilience at Black & Veatch, and five company leaders shared these important achievements with attendees in a fruitful conversation.
The five company leaders were Amir Hafzalla, President of the South Region at Reworld, Richard Pruitt, Vice President of Environmental Operations at Carnival Cruise Line, David Landsberg, President & CEO of Goodwill South Florida, Artealia Guilliard, Head of Sustainability Communications & Advocacy at Ford Motor Company and Moe Hachem, Chief Executive Officer at Sneaker Impact.
In addition, the Annual Sustainability & Green Visionary Awards’ Luncheon also celebrated Green Visionary Award Honorees as follow: Miami-Dade County Commissioner for District 7, Raquel Regalado, President & CEO at Goodwill South Florida, David Landsberg, FIU Executive Director of Strategic Events, Dr. Mireya Mayor, Director of Engagement & Outreach at the Everglades Foundation, Keely Weyker, Director of Partnerships at 4ocean, Nicole Gomez, Vice President of Post Collections at Waste Pro USA, Mike Fernandez, and John R.
