Zoo Miami reopens on May 27 to members and on June 1 to the public with restrictions
DORAL, FL – Zoo Miami reopens Wednesday May 27 to members and on June 1 to the public under new measures to ensure social distancing.
“We know how important Zoo Miami is to our community and we look forward to once again being able to provide a wonderful experience for the whole family, while keeping each other safe,” said Zoo Miami Director Carol Kruse to CBS Miami.
Among the new measures Zoo Miami has taken in this new phase, one of them is reducing its daily capacity. Actions taken towards this direction include opening indoor buildings at half the normal capacity and moving rentals of safari cycles, strollers, wheelchairs, and motorized scooters to their online platform at shop.zoomiami.org . These items will also be sanitized after every use.
In addition, one-way only directional floor decals will be placed in several exhibits including the Wings of Asia, Critter Connection, Amazon and Beyond, and Florida: Mission Everglades.
Regarding sanitation and face masks, Zoo Miami reopens requiring everyone ages 2 and older to wear a face covering to enter the Zoo premises. Zoo-themed masks will be available for purchase online and at the gift shop while supplies last.
But not only guests are mandated to use face masks, all Zoo Miami employees also have to comply with this requirement, as well as getting their temperature checked daily before the beginning of their work shift.
High touch surfaces will be cleaned several times during the day including restrooms. Additional hand sanitized stations will be located throughout the zoo.
And not every interaction will be open to the public. Some of them will remain closed including animal feedings, playgrounds, rides, water play areas and zookeeper talks and presentations. Food concessions will be open.
If you are planning on attending the zoo, the first step is to pre-purchase tickets online at shop.zoomiami.org. Zoo Miami members must make online reservations to obtain free tickets and it won’t be allowed to reserve more than 10 tickets per transaction.

Timid pero tipico hispano politicos terrified of their own shadows as the rest of the state opens it ALL up rather quickly and this is why anyone here with a business needs to vote AGAINST ever incumbent .
Well, even though there are restrictions, I’m just glad Zoo Miami is open again. They’ve got such a variety of animals, it’s a shame that we weren’t able to visit them. Glad things are getting back to normal!
