Pete Cabrera: “Doral Can Count on Me”.
Cabrera has been involved with the community and politics of Doral since the beginning, in 2003 he became the first deputy mayor of the city, and he held this position for five years.

Pete Cabrera is back. By decision of the residents of Doral, who in the recent electoral process elected him to take seat # 2 at the City Council, where Cabrera claims it is necessary to make many changes in order to start working as a team.
Pete Cabrera, who won with a total of 3 thousand 483 votes (54.49%) over Bettina Rodríguez Aguilera, who obtained a total of 2 thousand 909 votes (45.51%), insists that the most important thing right now is to establish respect among the City Council members in order to end the political show off and really work for Doral.
“Along the campaign, people insisted they felt tired of the discussions and dramas at the City Council, therefore I wish to motivate a change in Doral, where team work prevails in favor of the city’s improvement. That is my promise to the people who recently elected me”.
“Because he cares”, was Pete Cabrera’s campaign slogan, he claims that this phrase defines his feelings towards Doral, as he has devoted ten years of his life to work for the city and worked hard on its founding, this is why he claims to know Doral as well as he knows himself, and he expects to rescue a City Council which, according to him, lacks stability.
“My political experience and strong connections with the city were crucial in this political triumph, now my duty is to motivate changes in Doral. This has been a victory of the community to which I am totally committed and to which I have promised to be intensively dedicated as the honest and hardworking person I have always been”, informed Cabrera.
Cabrera was especially thankful for the support he received along his campaign from the students of Doral, “they were the heart of the campaign’s team work, they shared their energy with me and motivate me to carry out all the changes that are needed in Doral”.
“I have created such a strong bond with the students of Doral that they nicknamed me Uncle Pete and they really are like nephews to me. We are a great family that is going to work jointly on behalf of our city, until it becomes an example, of a place where we would all like to live”.
Regarding his plans as recently elected councilman, Cabrera highlighted the relevance of road projects, such as the opening of 109 Avenue in order to reduce the traffic issues that greatly affect Doral’s residents.
Cabrera also talked about the development of parks and outdoor areas, “we not only need to continue and support the construction of those parks that have been already projected, it is important as well that we continue to create new spaces for healthy recreation and that we maintain our current green areas”.
“Now in order to carryout these projects and many others that I am considering, the main issue is to start working together, leaving aside any conflicts and moving forward”, insisted Cabrera, who is committed to restoring civility in the City Council.
Pete Cabrera, who was the first deputy mayor of the city claims that at this point he has no intention of running for Mayor, “I don’t care about the title, nor the position, the only thing that matters to me is that I want to serve the community”.

Cabrera ha estado involucrado en la política y la comunidad de Doral desde sus inicios, pues en el 2003 fue el primer vice-alcalde de la ciudad, puesto que ocupó por cinco años.

Pete Cabrera regresó. Así lo decidieron los residentes de Doral, tras el proceso electoral en el que resultó electo para ocupar la silla # 2 del Concejo, en el cual asegura que es necesario hacer muchos cambios para empezar a trabajar en equipo.
Pete Cabrera, quien se impuso con 3 mil 483 votos (54,49%) sobre Bettina Rodríguez Aguilera, que logró capitalizar 2 mil 909 votos (45,51%), señala que lo más importante en este momento es volver a instituir el respecto entre los miembros del Concejo para terminar con el protagonismo político y realmente trabajar por Doral.
“Durante la campaña, las personas me insistían en que estaban cansados de las discusiones y los dramas en el Concejo, por lo que yo aspiro impulsar un cambio en Doral, en el que prive el trabajo en equipo para poder echar para adelante la ciudad. Ese es mi compromiso con el pueblo que me acaba de elegir”.
“Porque le importa”, fue lema de la campaña de Pete Cabrera, quien asegura que esta frase es la que mejor define sus sentimiento hacía Doral, pues ha dedicado 10 años de su vida al servicio de la ciudad y trabajó arduamente en la fundación de la misma, por lo que dice conocer a Doral tanto como así mismo, así que pretende rescatar un Concejo que, según él, carece de estabilidad.
“Mi experiencia política y mi fuerte vínculo con la ciudad fueron decisivos en este triunfo, por lo que ahora mi obligación es propiciar cambios en Doral. Esta ha sido una victoria de la comunidad con la cual estoy comprometido a ofrecerle mi dedicación incansable como el servidor público honesto y trabajador que siempre he sido”, señala Cabrera.
Cabrera agradeció especialmente el apoyo recibido de los estudiante de Doral durante su campaña electoral, “ellos fueron el corazón del trabajo de campaña que hicimos en equipo, me han transmitido toda su energía y me he nutrido de su impulso para emprender todos los cambios que son necesarios en Doral”.
“He creado un lazo tan fuerte con los estudiantes de Doral que ellos ahora me llaman Tío Pete y es que realmente son como mis sobrinos. Somos una gran familia que va a trabajar unida por nuestra ciudad, hasta convertirla en un ejemplo, en un sitio donde todos desearían vivir”.
Con respecto a sus planes como concejal recién electo, Cabrera destacó la importancia de los proyectos viales, como por ejemplo, la apertura de la 109 avenida para aliviar los problemas de tráfico de la ciudad que es uno de los aspectos que más afecta los residentes de Doral.
Cabrera también hizo referencia al desarrollo de parques y sitios al aire libre, “no sólo hay que darle continuidad y respaldo a las construcciones de parques ya proyectadas, es importante que sigamos creando espacios para el sano esparcimiento y dándole mantenimiento a las áreas verdes ya existentes”.
“Ahora para lograr estos proyectos y muchos otros que tengo contemplados en mi plan de trabajo, hay un tema prioritario que es empezar a trabajar unidos, dejando atrás los conflictos y echando para adelante”, dijo Cabrera, quien se ha puesto como meta restaurar el civismo en el Concejo.
Pete Cabrera, quien fue el primer vice-alcalde de la ciudad asegura no tener aspiraciones como alcalde por el momento, “a mi no me importa el título, ni el cargo, lo único que quiero es servir a la comunidad”.
