Runoff election expected for Mayor and Seat#1

A turnout of 76% of the electorate in Doral has decided. Christi Fraga has been reelected for four more years in the dais, while the races for Mayor and Seat #1 will be decided in runoff elections December 13th
On the 8:00 pm report by the Miami-Dade elections Department had 10 out of the 11 precincts for the City of Doral accounted, along with the early voting and the mailed-in ballots. By then Fraga had a clear lead with 52.92% of the votes, enough to call the election.
On the other hand, the Mayoral race ended with former Mayor Juan Carlos “JC” Bermudez achieving 46.5% and current Mayor seeking reelection Luigi Boria with 33.4%. Councilwoman Sandra Ruiz obtained 20.1% of the votes. The runoff will be between Bermudez and Boria, a result that had been anticipated on informal polls during the early voting period.
Out of the six candidates running for the highly coveted Seat #1, civic activist Claudia Mariaca obtained 28.8% and newcomer Adriana Moyano 23.19%. Both ladies will be on the runoff ballot in December.
The race is not over in Doral. A decision that will affect more than 55,000 residents is in the hand of only the 50% that are citizens and can vote. The expectation is that the interest does not fade away by runoff date and true concerned and interested citizens show up again coming December to select the Mayor and Seat #1 Councilmember.

El 76% de los electores de Doral han decidido. Christi Fraga ha sido reelecta para cuatro años más como Concejal. Entretanto, la decisión para Alcalde y la Silla #1 tendrá que esperar a la segunda vuelta el 13 de diciembre.
A las 8:00pm el Departamento de Elecciones de Miami-Dade había contabilizado los resultados para 10 de los 11 centros electorales de la Ciudad de Doral, además de los votos anticipados y por correo. Para entonces la ventaja de Fraga la definía claramente como ganadora con el 52.92% de los votos.
Por otra parte, la elección de Alcalde culminó con 46.5% votos para el Primer Alcalde Juan Carlos “JC” Bermúdez y el Alcalde Actual Luigi Boria, quien obtuvo 33.4%. La Concejal Sandra Ruiz obtuvo 20.1% de los votos. La segunda vuelta será entre Bermúdez y Boria, un resultado que habían anticipado las encuestas informales durante el periodo de votación anticipada.
De los seis candidatos por la ansiada Silla #1, la delantera la llevaron la activista Claudia Mariaca con 28.8% y Adriana Moyano con 23.19%. Ambas estarán en la boleta de votación del 13 de diciembre.
La carrera no ha terminado en Doral. Una decisión que afectará más de 55,000 residentes está en las manos de solamente un 50% de ellos que pueden votar por ser ciudadanos americanos.
Es de esperarse que el interés por decidir no se desvanezca para la fecha de la segunda vuelta y los ciudadanos realmente preocupados e interesados por el futuro de la ciudad hagan el esfuerzo de acudir nuevamente a las urnas para escoger al Alcalde y Concejal de la Silla#1.
