Runoff election needed to define Doral Council seat #4
The City of Doral will have to hold a run-off election for Seat 4 after no candidate received more than 50%+1 of the vote.
Pete Cabrera, current councilman of Doral got reelected with 6,715 votes (50.18%).
The results of the other candidates on the race are Liliana Campa who came in second with 3,687 (27.55%) votes in favor. Carlos Pereira got 1,893 votes (14.15%) and Jose Lorenzo got 1,086 votes (8.12%).
From the three candidates to seat 4, two of them were able to get the majority of the preference of the voters, Digna Cabral with 6,472 votes (48.65%) and Belinda Leon with 3,477 votes (26.14%), they will now face each other in a runoff election.
Alexis Acosta got 3,353 votes (25.21%).
That run-off election will take place Tuesday, December 11th.
On the other hand, fifty three percent of voters supported $150 million bond referendum for their Parks.
Doral Park bonds approved answer to expectations of 53% of residents who do not mind paying more taxes to have over the years a City with State-of-the-Arts parks.
Among the projects to be covered by the bonds are the development and completion of the 82 acres of the Doral Central Park, including community and fitness center, the long-awaited Aquatic Center, playgrounds, skate park and sports courts; an expansion of Downtown Doral Park; a three-acre Walk-to Park; five miles of new bikeway trails and safety features, improvements and lighting enhancements for all other City parks.
