Christmas is here!
The stores call for attention, everything shines! The Christmas lights already decorate some houses and shopping malls play the Christmas songs as part of their annual tradition. Just a few days away to celebrate Christmas, we are thinking about the things we want to receive and what presents we are going to give to others, what we will be wearing on these days and how we will satisfy our desires to celebrate, cheers and share.In every single corner, large chain stores invite us to enjoy compulsive shopping with an outlined smile in our face. Despite of the economic crisis, our ambition and our desire to consume and obtain the best of the best has not changed. The advertisements are saturated with messages of support for these festivities: “Now is the time to help and to share,” as if we only had to do this during December. But at the same time, these stores publish ads with promos about fragrances and candies, which are not left behind, just because it is time for family reunion. Quite a paradox!
We should not forget that Christmas season is very important to millions of people who wait a whole year to celebrate the reason for the season: The birth of Jesus. No doubts about, this important Christian occasion has impacted the entire world; more and more people each year, even non-believers celebrate with gifts, decorated trees and Santa Claus.
Christmas also brings many advantages to the entire community which has benefits as well. This time usually is a boost for the economy. Many people run to the stores to buy gifts for their loved ones, they buy special ingredients to prepare delicious recipes and also attend to many Christmas shows. But Christmas also has social effects. This is a time for family reunion. In order to spend Christmas together, many people are often willing to make long trips to meet with their special friends and relatives so they can share the celebration of the most important day of the year.
During this holiday season, try to enjoy the brightness of the tree lights and the beauty of decorated streets, but do not forget to enjoy every season of the year by not letting aside the sense of helping, sharing and reflecting. This is a great time to practice and promoting moral values, bringing joy and hope while we try to less focus on materialism and mass consumption. We must strive to be better people and better human beings.
The City of Doral offers great events in order to do that. Last December 3rd, many children had the opportunity to spend a great time having breakfast and taking pictures with Santa at Ronald Reagan High School facilities. Next December 10th, the city has also organized the “Lights On” (Holiday Lights & Ice), which is one of the most beautiful events of the season. This family-oriented event is totally free and features great activities such as games, Christmas shows and an extraordinary play of lights which will illuminate the JC Bermudez Park’s sky from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Don’t miss the opportunity to enjoy your family time during this special season.

La Navidad ya esta aquí!
Las tiendas llaman la atención, todo brilla! El iluminado navideño ya engalana algunas casas y los centros de compras nos regalan el hilo musical navideño de todos los años. Es por ello que a pocos días para celebrar la Navidad, ya estamos pensando lo que queremos que nos regalen y lo que vamos a regalar, qué look nos pondremos para estas fechas decembrinas y cómo saciar nuestras ganas de festejar, brindar y compartir.
En cada rincón, las grandes cadenas comerciales nos invitan a disfrutar las compras de forma compulsiva con unas sonrisas esbozadas. Y es que a pesar de la crisis, nuestra ambición por consumir y querer siempre lo mejor no ha cambiado. Los medios publicitarios están saturados por mensajes que expresan solidaridad en estas fechas: “Ahora es el momento de ayudar, de compartir o de apadrinar”, como si solo lo tuviéramos que hacer esto en diciembre. A la vez que comparten bloques de anuncios con perfumes de lujo y dulces que no pueden faltar, porque es el momento de reunión familiar. Toda una paradoja!
Pero no debemos olvidar que la época navideña es de gran importancia para millones de personas, las cuales esperan casi todo el año para celebrar el motivo principal de la Navidad: el Nacimiento de Jesús. Sin duda alguna, esta importante conmemoración del mundo cristiano ha afectado al mundo entero haciendo que hasta los no creyentes celebren con regalos, pinos decorados y Santa Claus.
La celebración de la Navidad, por otra parte, trae muchas ventajas para la comunidad y en consecuencia para miles de personas que obtienen beneficios. Estas fechas resultan un impulso para la economía, ya que es común ver como las personas acuden a las tiendas para comprar regalos para sus seres queridos, compran ingredientes especiales para preparar exquisitas recetas de la temporada y además, acuden a muchos espectáculos especialmente de Navidad. Pero por otro lado, la Navidad trae beneficios sociales, es un momento de fiesta para reunirse con amigos y familiares. Muchas personas suelen hacer largos recorridos para viajar a reunirse con familiares y amigos con el fin de poder celebrar de la mejor manera posible la noche de la Navidad, y pasar juntos el día más importante del año.
En esta temporada, disfrutemos del brillo de las luces en el pino y de las bellas calles decoradas, pero no olvidemos disfrutar cada etapa del año y nunca perder el sentido de ayudar, compartir y reflexionar. Esta es una época para inculcar y fomentar los valores morales, dar alegría y esperanza, no solo para concentrarse en el materialismo y consumo masivo. Hay que esforzarse por ser mejores personas y mejores seres humanos.

Es por ello que el pasado 3 de diciembre los niños pudieron compartir un grato momento entre amigos desayunando y tomándose fotos con Santa en las instalaciones del Ronald Reagan High School y el próximo 10 de diciembre, la ciudad ya nos tiene preparado el “Encendido de Luces” (Holiday Lights & Ice), uno de los eventos mas hermosos de la temporada, donde todos tienen la oportunidad de compartir en familia y de forma gratuita diversas actividades, juegos y espectáculos navideños a la par de un extraordinario juego de luces que iluminaran el cielo del JC Bermudez Park a partir de las 6:00 pm y hasta las 9:00 pm.
