Doral Family Journal supports once again school education in Fall Forum
DORAL, FL – On Tuesday, PTA members, parent volunteers, and educational leaders were invited to the 7th Annual Fall Forum, that took place at Intercontinental Hotel in Doral, where they learned how to better communicate, motivate and guide children and teenagers in the current school year.
The event, hosted for District 5 Miami-Dade County School Board Member Christi Fraga, counted once again with the support of Doral Family Journal and the knowledge and experience of Superintendent of M-DCPS, Alberto Carvalho.
In addition, guests to the Fall Forum were also able to listen to Ms. Beatriz Martinez-Peñalver, a licensed psychotherapist; Special Agent Nicole D. Harris and Detective Lee Bieber, both linked to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI); Chief Edwin Lopez, a School Resource Officer for MDCPS Police Department; and Dr. Lisa Gwynn, an Associate Professor of Clinical Pediatrics and Public Health Sciences at the University of Miami School of Medicine.
During the three hours Fall Expo, speakers talked with the audience about the most important topics surrounding kids and teens such as emotional and social health which was addressed by Ms. Beatriz Martinez who focused on how to reinforce positive thoughts in students, while Special Agent Nicole D. Harris and Detective Lee Bieber gave tips to protect children from cybercrimes.
The event closed with an Q&A Panel in charge of Superintendent Alberto Carvalho, Chief Edwin Lopez, and Dr. Lisa Gwynn in which guests were able to gather more tools on drugs prevention, online safety, parent involvement, homework policies, and COVID-19 safety, among other important subjects.
