Family Fun Guide – February

This edition is full of outdoor activities, festivals, movies and more.

Marlins FanFest: February 8th,  from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Miami Marlins Park.

The Miami Marlins will hold its annual free FanFest with fun and entertaining activities for people of all ages. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet and greet Marlins players, take pictures and have interaction with players and alumni, experience a batting cage with them, and participate during Player’s interviews on the main stage.

Kids will have another level of fun attending the Kids press conference with Marlins players, visiting the Marlins clubhouse and touring the dugout, participating of the special kids’ activities in the 5th Base, or just enjoying the face painting, balloon animals, and kids’ DJ.  This event fill concludes with Miami’s Best Fireworks Show.

City of Doral events for February:

Camping Under The Stars: February 7th – 8th, Friday 5:00 pm to Saturday 8:00 am, at Doral Central Park.  

It’s time for this favorite family event again! Enjoy the outdoors, and the unforgettable experience of camping overnight at this safe event! There will be a bonfire, marshmallow roasting, and a movie shown on a huge outdoor screen. Just bring your camping supplies and get ready to spend a wonderful time with your family and friends.  Free registration open now.

Capture Doral: February 20th, 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm at Doral Government Center. The entire community is invited to submit their best photos of Doral to create a wonderful collection that will be displayed in the government center for two weeks. This is a great opportunity for those photography lovers to show their talents, and for all residents and visitors to see our beautiful city and its evolution in images.

Movies at the Park: February 28th, 7:30 pm, at Downtown Doral Park. The family-friendly film “Aquaman” will be shown on a giant inflatable movie screen for everyone to enjoy. As always, just bring your lawn chairs or blankets and get ready to have fun. Refreshments will be available onsite for purchase.

SEUSS’ Birthday Storytime: February 29th, three 45-minutes sessions at 10:00 am, 11:00 am, and 12:00 am, Doral Legacy Park. The Celebration of Dr. Seuss’s Birthday is here and it will be celebrated with three sessions of fun-filled Storytime adventure with the favorite Dr. Seuss characters’! This will be a celebration of reading, as everyone gathers together to sing Happy Birthday to Dr. Seuss. Life Time Miami Marathon, Half Marathon, and Topical 5K:

Tropical 5K and Kids Run: February 8th – Start line on Watson Island. If you want to experience the adrenaline of a great race, this is a great option for you. This 3.1-mile race is held one day before the Miami Marathon and Half Marathon, and adults and middle school kids can participate. The race starts on Watson Island and cross the MacArthur Causeway to finish at Nikki Beach – South Beach. This race invites middle school kids as a way to promote healthy habits, helping students to reduce the risk of obesity, diabetes, heart disease, and high blood pressure.

Lifetime Miami Marathon and Half Marathon: February 9th –Start Line in front of the AmericanAirlines Arena. Be part of one of the most exciting races of the entire country! More than 25,000 people representing more than 80 countries around the world come to Miami to compete in both, the 26.2– mile marathon and the 13.1-mile half marathon. Runners will enjoy a gorgeous racecourse, including stunning views and abundance of palm trees, and will have the opportunity to run through popular places such as Miami Beach, Key Biscayne and Coconut Grove.  Expo, lectures, post races celebration and more are part of this unforgettable event. Miami International Boat Show: February 13th – 17th at Miami Marine Stadium. This is one of the largest and most influential boats shows worldwide, and now returns to Miami for a spectacular display of powerboats and sailboats, ranging from fishing vessels, pleasure cruisers, sloops, catamarans, and yachts, as well as the best new marine technology, gear, and accessories. Even children will have the change to marvel at these magnificent monstrosities of the sea and sample carnival-style food too.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to get out on the water with test drives and boating lessons while enjoying delicious bites and refreshing beverages from local providers. Coconut Grove Art Festival: February 15th-17th from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm, along McFarlane Road and South Bayshore Drive.

President’s Day weekend will welcome the famous Coconut Grove Art Festival for its 56th annual celebration.  During this festival, there will be more than 360 international artists showing their works, including a large array of pieces from painting to photography, mixed media, jewelry, sculpture, and many other forms. The festival also offers culinary arts, entertainment and family activities in the family zone that will transform a mile of Coconut Grove’s Biscayne Bay’s coastline into an art village. Food Network & Cooking Channel South Beach Wine & Food Festival (SOBEWFF): February 19th – 23rd, different locations. 

This amazing festival invites dozen of celebrity chefs and culinary personalities, for an unbelievable list of events. From cooking demonstrations, workshops and lectures, kids and family-friendly classes and events, parties and dining experiences, this festival includes something fun for everyone. Each SOBEWFF event is ticketed and prices vary widely, ranging from $35 for family-friendly events, like pizza-making classes to $500 for the formal tribute dinner.
