Ronald W. Reagan Doral Senior High School receives $20,000 donation in musical instruments
The Venezuelan pop duo ‘Chino & Nacho’, together with the Latin Grammy Cultural Foundation and Ford Motor Company Fund, donated musical instruments in order to support the musical program of Doral’s school.

Last Thursday, April 14th, the music students of Ronald W. Reagan Doral Senior High School received a very special visit, the Venezuelan duet Chino & Nacho, Latin Grammy® winners, Ford Motor Company Fund and the Latin Grammy Cultural Foundation arrived to make a $20,000 donation in musical instruments.
The excited students of Doral’s school, which last year suffered a fire that damaged the majority of their instruments, received trumpets, saxophones, clarinets and flutes among other instruments.
It is important to highlight that Latin Grammy in the Schools program is an event focused on informing and connecting music students with professionals of this Latin industry, by supporting the music department of educational institutions with financial limitations, and for the fifth consecutive year it has joined Ford Motor Company Fund to support music programs at schools.
Model and presenter Chiquinquirá Delgado was the host of the event.
“Thanks to the generosity of Ford Motor Company Fund, we were able to donate 20.000 dollars in musical instruments to the Ronald W. Reagan Doral Senior High School and continue our mission of supporting the music department educational institutions with financial limitations”, claimed Vice-president of the Latin Grammy Cultural Foundation, Manolo Díaz.
During the activity, singers Chino & Nacho shared with the students their personal stories and experiences, they gave them advise and inspired them to follow their dreams.
“Everybody has the capacity to achieve what they want, but you have to prepare yourselves, so don’t stop studying”, said Nacho.
“It is always good to inspire the young and tell them that they are not alone in their fight to grow as professionals”.
As for Chino, he told the story of how he got where he is today, with effort and perseverance, and advised them to never waste opportunities.
“For us it is a great responsibility and honor, to share with the students of Ronald Reagan and deliver this donation”, claimed Chino.
The Social Responsibility Manager at Ford Motor Company Fund, Joe Ávila, said he felt very proud. “We have been doing this for many years. We have been working to help our community for over 65 years, focusing not only on safe driving yet also on building a brilliant future. And education is priority. And it has been a priority for many years through scholarship programs so that the young attend both school and motivational programs such as the “Ford Driving Dreams”.
On the other hand, RRDSH Principal Juan Carlos Silva, added: “We are thrilled. It’s a great help… Beyond that, not only the bringing on the instruments which were very grateful for, but the fact that they came to our school, the students of doral are going to have the chance to meet Latin Grammy artists, Chino & Nacho. Our population is highly Venezuelan so its good because they can relate to them and see how people in their own country and their own culture have succeeded through the arts. We try to promote the arts a lot at Reagan so I think it’s a wonderful opportunity for the students” said Silva.
Fernando Collar Bison Band Director, Music Teacher said: “This donation is a blessing. I knocked on so many doors to try to get money for my band and my kids and they were immediately responsive and I am so happy, what can I tell you? They are great. They came right away, they said we will help, we’ll do this and they move so fast… its incredible”.
“We lost two thirds of our instruments. We lost about $100,000 worth of instruments so little by little we are recovering and this is another step in the process. We still need a little bit more but we are moving in the right direction and this was a big step”, said Collar.

El dúo Chino y Nacho, junto a la Fundación Cultural Latin Grammy y Ford Motor Company Fund, donaron los instrumentos musicales con el objetivo de apoyar el programa de música de la escuela de Doral.

El pasado jueves, 14 de abril , los estudiantes de música de Ronald W. Reagan Doral Senior High School recibieron una visita muy especial, y es que, el dúo venezolano Chino y Nacho, ganadores del Latin Grammy®, Ford Motor Company Fund y la Fundación Cultural Latin Grammy llegaron allí para hacer un donativo de $20,000 en instrumentos musicales.
Trompetas, saxofones, clarinetes y flautas entre otros instrumentos, fueron recibidos por los emotivos estudiantes de la escuela de Doral, la cual el año pasado sufrió un incendio que dañó la mayoría de sus instrumentos.
Cabe resaltar que el programa educativo Latin Grammy en las escuelas es un evento que informa y conecta a estudiantes de música con profesionales de esta industria latina apoyando instituciones educativas con limitaciones financieras en sus departamentos de música y por quinto año consecutivo se ha unido con Ford Motor Company Fund para apoyar el programa de música en las escuelas.
La modelo y presentadora Chiquinquirá Delgado fue la moderadora del evento.
“Gracias a la generosidad de Ford Motor Company Fund, pudimos donar 20.000 dólares en instrumentos musicales a Ronald W. Reagan Doral Senior High School y continuar nuestra misión de apoyar a instituciones educativas con limitaciones financieras en sus departamentos de música”, comentó el vicepresidente de la Fundación Cultural Latin Grammy, Manolo Díaz.
Durante la actividad, los cantantes Chino y Nacho compartieron con los estudiantes sus historias y experiencias, los aconsejaron y los motivaron a seguir adelante con sus sueños.
“Todo el mundo tiene la capacidad de lograr lo que se quiere, pero hay que preparase, así que no dejen de estudiar”, comentó Nacho.
“Siempre es bueno motivar a los jóvenes y decirles que no están solos en su lucha por desarrollarse como profesionales”.
Por su parte, Chino relató cómo llegó hasta dónde está, con esfuerzo, perseverancia, y les aconsejó no desaprovechar las oportunidades.
“Para nosotros es una gran responsabilidad y un gran honor, compartir con todos los estudiantes del Ronald Reagan y hacer esta donación”, exclamó Chino.
El Gerente de Responsabilidad Social de Ford Motor Company Fund, Joe Ávila, dijo sentirse muy orgulloso. “Tenemos muchos años haciendo esto. Por mas de 65 años hemos trabajado para ayudar a nuestra comunidad, enfocandonos no solamente en la seguridad al manejar sino en construir un futuro brillante. Y la educación es una prioridad. Y ha sido una prioridad por muchos años con programas de becas escolares y para que jóvenes vayan a la escuela y programas de motivación como “Ford impulsando sueños”.
Por otro lado, el Director de RRDSH Juan Carlos Silva, expresó: “Estamos encantados. Esto es una gran ayuda”… Más allá de eso, no solamente por la donación de los instrumentos que es muy agradecida, sino el hecho de que vinieron a nuestra escuela, y los estudiantes tuvieron la oportunidad de conocer a los cantantes venezolanos Chino y Nacho. Nuestra población estudiantil es altamente venezolana así que es excelente, porque se relacionaron con ellos y vieron cómo la gente de su país y de su cultura ha triunfado en las artes. Nosotros siempre tratamos de promover las artes en gran cantidad, así que, creo que es una gran oportunidad para que los estudiantes”, dijo Silva.
Fernando Collar, profesor de música y Director de la banda de RRDSH dijo: “Esta donación es una bendición. He tocado tantas puertas para conseguir el dinero para la banda y para mis estudiantes y ellos respondieron de inmediato y estoy muy feliz. ¿Qué quiere que le diga? Ellos son geniales. Ellos vinieron de inmediato; dijeron vamos a ayudar; vamos a hacer esto y se movieron rápido … Es increíble”.
“Hemos perdido dos tercios de nuestros instrumentos. Hemos perdido cerca de $ 100,000 en instrumentos por lo que poco a poco nos estamos recuperando y esto es otro paso más en el proceso. Seguimos necesitando un poco más, pero nos estamos moviendo en la dirección correcta y esto fue un gran paso”, dijo Collar.
