Sergio’s Family Restaurants Expands New Fast-Casual Concept “Sergio’s Cuban”
The beloved restaurant group will launch 25 new locations of the franchise throughout South Florida.
Sergio’s Family Restaurants, South Florida’s mainstay for over 43 years, has struck a deal to develop 25 new fast-casual restaurants.
After an extensive search, Sergio’s Cuban awarded the rights to Cuban Manna, LLC for Dade, Broward and Palm Beach Counties. The development group is led by operator Manny Rodriguez who was the first person to bring Domino’s Pizza and Baskin Robbins to Latin America. Mr. Rodriguez has partnered with Altis Cardinal’s principals Frank Guerra and AJ Suarez. Both AJ and Frank currently have over $1.5 billion dollars in real estate development throughout the United States and were excited to be part of launching the growth of Sergio’s Cuban.
The new fast-casual concept has already opened smaller counter locations at Florida International University, American Airlines Arena, Ft. Lauderdale Airport and will be launching new store-front locations throughout South Florida and beyond, beginning with the Grand Opening of the first of the Sergio’s Cuban franchises this past March 24thin North Miami.
“While the core concept is rooted in Cuban culture and tradition, there is an exciting evolution in the healthier customizable menu and environment that promises a diversity beyond what you will find in the traditional Cuban restaurant.” said Carlos Gazitua, CEO of Sergio’s Cuban.
Under CEO Carlos Gazitua’s vision, Sergio’s Cuban is breaking all the rules. The ethos behind his bold new concept? “A Fresh Take on Cuban.” Diners will queue up and customize the ingredients in their dish while overseeing the process. Ropa Vieja, Citrus Grilled Chicken, Organic Quinoa, Cauliflower Rice or Sergio’s award-winning Steak or Cuban Sandwich; there are no wrong answers as hungry patrons are emboldened to make the call. Sergio’s Cuban lives in a world of authentic yet unique (i.e. classic cafecito v. newly launched nitro café con leche on tap; or the traditional guava pastelitos and croquetas v. oven-baked empanadas of carne and maduros or vaca frita).
In July 2017, the Sergio’s Franchise Group signed a 25-store development deal for locations that will span throughout South Florida (Dade, Broward, and West Palm Beach).
“Our South Florida development agreement will initially start in Dade County for the first two years as we have leases in North Miami, Cutler Ridge, Miami Lakes, Brickell, and Wynwood. After these stores are up and running, we will then begin serving Cuban food in Broward and West Palm County in the next few years. We are very excited to reward Cuban Manna LLC, the development rights because they are operators at heart who understand the franchise business and the value of our brand. This is the first of many development deals expected to occur as we move throughout Florida in the upcoming years.”
The first Sergio’s Cuban location is located at 1821 NE 123 Street, North Miami, FL 33181.
