Support Dorian’s victims in Bahamas Benefit Concert on September 28

DORAL, FL – Miami-Dade Schools is inviting the community to the ‘M-DCPS Bahamas Benefit Concert’ next Saturday, September 28, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Miami Arts Studio 6-12 located in 15015 SW 24 Street, Miami, Florida 33185.

The Bahamas Benefit Concert, which purpose is to gather donations for Dorian’s victims, is a perfect opportunity to have a fun Saturday evening next to friends and family while helping your Bahamas neighbors that continue to suffer the devastating effects of this natural disaster.

All proceeds from the musical event will go to Operation Helping Hands, an initiative created by United Way of Miami-Dade, the Miami-Herald, and Univision 23 to support the response, relief and recovery efforts in the areas affected by Hurricane Dorian in the Bahamas.

Let’s remember that it’s been nearly a month since hurricane Dorian made landfall  in Abaco Island as a category 5 hurricane, leaving 53 people dead, 1,300 more missing and damages costs of over $US 7 billion.

Since then, residents of Miami have joined efforts to support Bahamians by donating much needed items, such as canned food, throughout different collections sites.

But despite the continuous aide efforts of Bahamas’ neighbors and other countries around the world, many people in the Bahamas are still struggling with lack of medications, food, and water.
