Freedom will soon be ringing with a thunderous roar over the skies of Homestead as the Wings Over Homestead Air and Space Show returns to Homestead Air Reserve Base on the weekend of Nov. 3-4.

This spectacular free event will feature the United States Air Force Thunderbird’s F-16 demonstration team, which will perform their breathtaking aerial stunts and formations. They will be joined by a host of other aircraft, including everything from biplanes to supersonic jets to rocket cars. Many other warbirds, classic and vintage aircraft, along with military vehicles and aviation-related items will be on static display for up-close viewing. Other highlights of the show will include the U.S. Army parachute team, The Golden Knights, with their exciting live parachute demonstrations.

As the Military Liaison for Miami-Dade County, the Chairman of the Military Affairs Board and a United States Marine who has attended many of these exhilarating displays of aerial skill, I can’t help but feel a thrill of patriotic pride at the brilliant acrobatics performed by our brave military men and women. I believe that pride is shared by the massive crowds that come out to view the spectacle every time it comes to Homestead. Just ask any of the 150,000 who attended the show the last time it came to town in 2016.

I want to convey my special thanks to the show’s host, the 482nd Fighter Wing, which maintains and operates Homestead Air Reserve Base, which consists of approximately 3,000 military and civilian members and a fully combat-ready unit capable of providing F-16C multi-purpose fighter aircraft for short-notice worldwide deployment.

The Wings Over Homestead Air and Space Show comes only once every two years, so you definitely don’t want to miss it! Please join me and the tens of thousands of your fellow citizens who will be come out to experience the thrills. Bring your families and let’s celebrate our great military and all the beloved freedoms we enjoy as Americans thanks to their continued bravery and sacrifice.
