Ana, Maye and Fernando: Three Young talents from Doral to the world.

Ana and Maye Osorio, and Fernando Belisario are beginning to reap the fruits of their hard work, focus and preparation as well as of the courage to follow their intuition and make sound decisions to take advantage of all the talents, resources and opportunities that life has given them.
They are only 20, 19 and 18 years old, but are already professionals with a style of their own. However, they still retain the gift of wonder that lives in the soul of children. Their achievements are the kind of good things that happen and are worth sharing. Seeing them reach their goals brings joy and satisfaction not only to their families but to the entire community that has seen them grow up.
Talking to them is like listening to their songs: a three-voice harmony, full of rhythm and joy. They know each other so well that complete each other sentences, and the conversation flows, commenting on their heritage, activities, recent successes, future projects and shared dreams.
All three were born in Venezuela and have lived in Doral for as long as they can remember. The Osorio sisters are daughters of Mariela Poza and singer-songwriter Fernando Osorio, a Latin Grammy winner. Fernando’s parents are Cristina and José Luis Belisario, creators of the popular band ‘Acuarela Tropical’; his mother also directs the “Coral Peregrina Cantar de los Cantares” and is the founder of a famous musical education institution in Doral.
Music has surrounded them at home since childhood. It was a matter of time for their inherited talents to flourish in that fertile soil. They have many beautiful and funny memories, like when Fernando played drums with his mom’s pots in the kitchen, or when at age 6 he gave his mom a CD wrapped in a piece of paper where he had written the names of ‘his songs’; or when Ana interrupted his dad during an interview and climbed on his lap, or when Maye worried when his dad participated in Career Day, until she realized that all her classmates thought he was “the coolest dad”. She says: “It was terrific because we had a special father, he was different. My dad is the ultimate person, changing people’s life with his music, doing what he loves to do.”
They are lifelong friends, which have grown up and shared experiences together. The evolution of that friendship resulted in an extraordinary collaboration and synergy, where they have joined talents to compose, sing and produce both their own songs and covers of pieces from their favorite singers.
“There is nothing cuter than seeing them taking this journey in life together” says Fernando’s mom, Cristina. And Maye adds: “My dad says the same, that for some reason we’re in this together and we like the same things. So we need to harness that energy we have together; I think that is what the video transmits. We have always gotten along, we have the same dreams and it is super nice to share your life with people who dream with you”.
The video that led them to Los Angeles
The trio made ??a video with their cover of the song Royals by Lorde. This post in YouTube has opened many doors for them and gave them the opportunity to be invited to appear before thousands of people a month ago during an event in the Convention Center in Los Angeles, California.
“This was something totally unexpected,” said Maye. “We had wanted for so long to do a cover for this song, which to me is a great song and we started to get ready. We wanted it to sound the way it would if we had written it. We found that idea original, because it was a cover with many harmonies.”
Ana shares that after several attempts, the final version was filmed in one take. And Fernando adds “we wanted it to show all our emotions”. That night the video went in YouTube. During that same week they were hired to sing at the event in Los Angeles.
Part of the event’s activities included a fashion show and they wanted to use the song Royals. Ana and Maye’s uncle told the organizers about the cover sung by his nieces; he sent them the video and they liked it so much they decided to hire them on the spot. “My uncle calls me and tells me they we’re paying for the flight, the hotel and the gig. We just needed to say yes. And I did at once! I could not believe it” says Ana and relives the excitement of the moment along with Maye, who says “I could not believe we got this.”
In three weeks, the cover of “Royals” by Ana, Maye and Fernando reached more than 3000 views. “If you think about it is like 1000 a week,” says Fernando, who wept with emotion when Ana broke the news of the trip to California. “When we told Maye we hugged and jumped and were super happy, it was like a dream” tells Ana.
Once in Los Angeles, it all happened really quickly. Besides Royals, they had prepared two more songs: American Boy by Estelle and Diego Torres’ Color Esperanza. They ended up singing American Boy. “In the little room where we got to expect, we could hear the people outside; that energy gets inside you. Once we were onstage, we looked at each other and thought, ‘Here is where we belong, this is our place’” says Ana
“The reaction of the audience was very positive; People even wanted to take pictures with us after” says Maye. This success, they had hoped and dreamed for a long time, came by surprise. “I knew it would happen, but not so soon. In my mind it is as if it all just happened. And we will continue just getting ready, developing material, writing and recording songs.”
The parallel universe of musicians
Fernando Belisario plays guitar, bass, drums, piano and trumpet. Surrounded by instruments all his life, he spares no praises for his parents and their unconditional support for his music career.
“Their support has been huge! Since childhood I have always had music around me. My mom and dad always had musical instruments in the house, because they played (with Acuarela Tropical) all over Miami basically. They arrived at dawn and I asked: What were you doing? “Working”, was their answer. And doing what? “Singing”. Their support has always been very good. Music has always been in my house all the time”
Fernando learned from his family’s example that music can be a profession to raise a family, that everything is possible as long as you want to take the risk, and that it takes effort and dedication. “Yes, you can live from making music”. However, along with his work as musician, Fernando is studying Sound Engineering “in order to learn how to produce our music”.
The Osorio sisters’ home also had the example of music as a profession and they give credit to the support of their parents. Ana studies theater and Maye studies music. They make a perfect harmony to express their feeling of gratitude for their family:
Ana says: “It was important for us. My dad is an artist too, musician, composer. He has been a perfect guide”.
Maye: “Dad, along with my uncle (Eduardo Osorio ) and with Juan Carlos ( Perez Soto ) too. They did this all this time ago and still remain dreamers like us. They say the most important thing is that … “
Ana: “that one has to follow their dreams, because they make you happy. You still have to make things right with your feet on the ground. “
Maye: “My mom knows how it is, that this career…”
Ana: “is not that easy, but if you have the passion and love to do it you can reach your dreams, achieve the goal you want.”
Laughing they say that music is like a parallel universe “but full with the funniest people” says Ana “It’s exciting but sometimes scary, because suddenly you do not know where you’ll be in a year, but that’s the fun , because this only happens once and you have to live life to the fullest. I could not imagine myself doing anything else.”
The strength of being fully bilingual
At nearly 21 years old, Ana has achieved great things, including a role in the production of ‘Santa Diabla’ in Telemundo. Mastering both Spanish and English makes a big difference for their work, a great strength she shares with her sister Maye and with Fernando.
“It is all thanks to our parents, who reinforced the use of Spanish at home always” says Maye. “Thanks to them I speak good Spanish.”
Although their compositions are often coming first in English, Ana and Maye have original material in Spanish “is almost inevitable, you cannot ignore your Hispanic Heritage. We were born in Venezuela all three and you cannot just ignore where you come from”, says Ana.
“I am still exploring that door,” says Fernando, “at first the idea was to compose in English only. “After seeing the success that has begun to arrive and that mastering both languages ??makes them very special, he is seriously considering the possibility of writing in both languages ??.
“Making music in Doral is an opportunity, many people are bilingual and everyone hears all kinds of different music” says Fernando. “In my house I have learned to love all genres: salsa, merengue; we had our rap phase; our reggaeton phase; pop / rock , everyone has something different to offer . “
Projects and acknowledgments
Upon returning from Los Angeles, Ana , Maye and Fernando have finally come to the realization of the commitment they have slowly made with their family , their fans and themselves, to work together as a team and produce high quality material . “The pieces of the puzzle are falling into place,” says Ana,” and we feel that we are on the right track.”
“Each of us is different as a musician, but when we got together, we have a ‘new flavor’ ” says Maye . And Fernando adds “this trip to Los Angeles was a door where I came and saw me in the spotlight, I realized that we have to take ourselves seriously because everyone else is taking us seriously.”
The results were not a stroke of luck but the result of much effort. They have been writing together for nearly four years and almost inadvertently have matured as a group. The success of the video and their professional presentation in Los Angeles just came to show them that they are on track to achieve their goals. “It was like someone was giving us a round of applause, to show us that we are on track” says Fernando.
The next steps are to name the trio and start recording the material they already have done. This is the short-term project: to produce their first album together.
Meanwhile, they continue to create and continue to dream of reaching farther and farther. They dream that in the not too distant future they will be giving the acceptance speech of a major award. They want Grammys. Ana wants Emmys, Tonys and an Oscar.
“The other day I started to make a list of all the people who gave me a hand in this and concluded it is really important, because I do not want to imagine a person who helped you there thinking ‘ he did not say my name.’ One has to thank everyone” says Fernando and Maye adds: “people always say something inspiring when they receive an award. I would advocate for the preservation of Fine Arts Departments at schools. It is always the first thing that is cut, when schools are having financial problems, and they are very important, because there is where people express themselves. “
Ana, Maye and Fernando are proud alumni from Ronald Reagan / Doral Senior High School and their appreciation for their fine arts teachers is deep; they credit them as part of the most influential people for the success they have today. Maye summarizes: “Professor Alvaro Bermudez taught us to play the guitar. And then Mrs. Alicia Romero, was my singing teacher and Mr. Alexandro Madruga, gave me the opportunity to sing for the first time, in public my original songs; that was thanks to him. I owe a lot to these three teachers. The art department of Reagan is incredible. “
Social networks as a tool for success
“Thanks to YouTube we went to Los Angeles. This generation we have it too easy for the world to hear us, with the use of social networks” says Ana. “At the same time it can be bad, because you can see all the competition you have. The important thing is that what you do is different, not trying to copy others. That is what makes you stand out from others” Maye concludes.
“We had a long talk about it before making the video,” says Fernando “We had so much time playing and composing and did not have a video on YouTube. It is no coincidence that the first video we do brings us all this. Thank God it happened, because we understood! “
“The universe is telling us that we are on track, we’re not making mistakes and that everything is flowing. We feel we are doing things right. Each piece of the puzzle is like a step that tells us to keep going. I get to see everything we have done and what is coming and I feel it is the right thing” says Ana.
Maye completes the thought, “it also very humbling. It makes you feel that you are going to allow the world to see what we have to offer. The goal is for the world to hear the music and art that is within us, and that when people want to do the same things, they can see it is possible. In conclusion, we are extremely grateful for doing what we like, and that we have the support. Seeing that people believe in us, that makes you feel that they too are seeing what you are seeing, the big picture and it is very beautiful. “

Ana Osorio, Maye Osorio y Fernando Belisario: Tres jóvenes talentos de Doral para el mundo.

Con apenas 20, 19 y 18 años respectivamente, Ana y Maye Osorio y Fernando Belisario están comenzando a cosechar los frutos del trabajo constante, el enfoque y la preparación, además de la valentía para seguir la intuición y tomar decisiones acertadas para aprovechar todos los talentos, recursos y oportunidades que la vida les ha proporcionado.
Son unos profesionales con estilo propio, pero aún conservan su capacidad de asombro y su alma de niños. Sus logros son de las cosas buenas que suceden y vale la pena resaltar. Verles llegar a sus metas llena de alegría y satisfacción no solamente a sus familias sino a toda la comunidad que les ha visto crecer.
Conversar con ellos es como escuchar sus canciones: una armonía a tres voces, llena de ritmo y alegría. Se conocen tanto y tan bien que se completan las frases entre ellos y la conversación fluye, comentando sobre sus orígenes, actividades, triunfos recientes, proyectos futuros y sueños compartidos.
Los tres nacieron en Venezuela y han vivido en Doral desde muy pequeños. Las hermanas Osorio son hijas de Mariela Poza y del cantante y compositor Fernando Osorio, ganador del Grammy Latino; los padres de Fernando son Cristina y José Luis Belisario, creadores de la popular banda Acuarela Tropical; ella dirige la Coral Peregrina Cantar de los Cantares y es la fundadora de una conocida institución de educación musical de Doral.
La música ha rodeado estos muchachos en sus casas desde pequeños y era cuestión de tiempo para que el talento heredado floreciera en suelo tan fértil. Tienen recuerdos hermosos y graciosos, como cuando Fernando tocaba batería con las ollas o cuando a los 6 años le regaló a su mamá un CD envuelto con un papelito donde había escrito los nombres de ‘sus canciones’; o cuando Ana interrumpió a su papá durante una entrevista para sentársele en las piernas; o cuando a Maye le daba pena cuando su papá participaba en Career Day, hasta que se dio cuenta que todos sus compañeros pensaban que era “the coolest dad”: “Era buenísimo porque teníamos un papá diferente. Mi papá es lo máximo, le cambia la vida a la gente con su música, haciendo lo que le gusta hacer.”
Han sido amigos toda la vida, han crecido y compartido juntos. La evolución natural resultó en una colaboración y una sinergia extraordinarias, donde los tres talentos se han juntado para componer, cantar y producir tanto sus propios temas como versiones de sus cantantes favoritos.
“No hay nada más lindo que ver que la vida los lleva por este camino juntos”, comenta Cristina la mamá de Fernando. Y Maye completa: “Mi papá dice lo mismo, que por alguna razón estamos en esto los tres y nos gusta lo mismo. Así que tenemos que aprovechar esa energía que tenemos juntos, creo que eso es lo que transmite el video. Siempre nos hemos llevado bien, tenemos los mismos sueños y que lindo es compartir con gente que sueña contigo”
El video que los llevó a Los Ángeles
El trio hizo un video con su versión de la canción Royals de Lorde, un post de YouTube que les ha comenzado a abrir puertas cada vez más grandes y les brindó la oportunidad de ser invitados para presentarse ante miles de personas hace un mes durante un evento en el Centro de Convenciones de Los Ángeles, California.
“Esto fue algo bien inesperado” explica Maye. “Hacía tiempo queríamos hacer una versión de esta canción, que para mí es un temazo y la empezamos a montar. Queríamos que quedara como la habríamos escrito nosotros. Nos pareció una idea original, no había una versión con tantas armonías.”
Ana cuenta que después de varios intentos lograron la versión final en una sola toma “queríamos que se viera en vivo”; Fernando completa: “y que se viera la emoción.” Esa misma noche estaba el video en YouTube. En la misma semana los contrataron para cantar en el evento en Los Ángeles.
Parte de las actividades del evento incluían un desfile y querían utilizar la canción Royals. El tío de Ana y Maye comentó a los organizadores sobre la versión que cantaban sus sobrinas, les envió el video y les gustó tanto que decidieron contratarlos. “Mi tío me llama y me dice: les estamos pagando el vuelo, el hotel, el toque. Díganme que si pueden. Y yo de una vez le dije que sí. No lo podía creer” cuenta Ana y revive la emoción del momento junto con Maye que dice “parecía mentira que nos salió esto.”
En 3 semanas la versión de “Royals” de Ana, Maye y Fernando alcanzó más de 3000 visitas “si te pones a pensarlo es como 1000 a la semana” dice Fernando, que lloró de la emoción cuando Ana le dio la noticia del viaje a California. “Cuando le dijimos a Maye nos abrazamos todos súper felices, era como un sueño” cuenta Ana.
Una vez en Los Ángeles todo pasó rápidamente. Además de Royals, llevaban preparadas dos canciones más: American Boy de Estelle y Color Esperanza de Diego Torres. Finalmente cantaron American Boy. “En el cuartico donde nos pusieron a esperar se escuchaba la energía de la gente afuera, esa energía se te mete dentro. Una vez frente al público nos mirábamos entre nosotros y pensábamos “Aquí pertenecemos, este es nuestro lugar” “dice Ana.
“La reacción del público fue muy positiva, después la gente se quería tomar fotos con nosotros” cuenta Maye. Es que este éxito, aunque esperado y soñado, les ha tomado por sorpresa. “Yo sabía que iba a suceder, pero no tan pronto. En mi mente es como que acaba de pasar. Vamos a seguir construyendo, componiendo”.
El universo paralelo de los músicos
Fernando Belisario toca guitarra, bajo, batería, piano y trompeta. Rodeado toda la vida de instrumentos, no escatima en elogios para sus padres por su irrestricto apoyo a su carrera musical.
“¡Su apoyo ha sido gigante! Desde pequeño siempre he tenido música a mí alrededor. Mi mamá y mi papá siempre tenían instrumentos musicales en la casa, porque ellos tocaban (con Acuarela Tropical) por todo Miami básicamente, y llegaban de madrugada y yo les preguntaba: ¿Que estaban haciendo? “Trabajando” ¿Y haciendo qué? “Cantando”. El apoyo de ellos siempre ha sido muy bueno. La música siempre ha estado en mi casa.”
Fernando aprendió con el ejemplo familiar que la música como profesión y medio de vida es posible y que implica esfuerzo y dedicación. “Si, se puede vivir de la música.”. Sin embargo, para complementar su trabajo Fernando estudia Ingeniería de Sonido “para poder producir nuestra música.”
Las hermanas Osorio también han tenido en casa el ejemplo de la música como profesión y dan crédito al apoyo de sus padres. Ana estudia Teatro y Maye estudia Música. Hacen un contrapunto perfecto para expresar este sentimiento de agradecimiento a su familia:
Ana dice: “Para nosotras ha sido fundamental. Mi papá es artista también, músico, compositor. Él ha sido un guía perfecto”
Maye completa: “Papá, junto a mi tío (Eduardo Osorio) y junto a Juan Carlos (Pérez Soto) también. Ellos como una vez hicieron esto también siguen siendo soñadores como nosotros lo somos. Dicen que lo más importante es que…”
Ana: “que uno tiene que seguir sus sueños, porque así uno es feliz. Claro tienes que hacer las cosas bien hechas, con los pies en la tierra.”
Maye: “Mi mamá también sabe cómo es esto, como es la carrera artística que no es que sea…”
Ana: “no es que sea fácil, pero si tienes la pasión y el amor para hacerlo cualquier persona puede llegar a su sueño, a la meta que quiera.”
Entre risas comentan que la música es como un universo paralelo “pero de gente más divertida” dice Ana. “Es emocionante, pero a veces da miedo porque de repente no sabes dónde vas a estar en un año, pero eso es lo divertido, porque esto solo pasa una vez y la vida la tienes que vivir al máximo, es así. Yo no me podría imaginar haciendo otra cosa.”
La fortaleza de ser completamente bilingues
A sus casi 21 años, Ana ha logrado grandes cosas, incluyendo un papel en la producción Santa Diabla de Telemundo. Dominar tanto el español como el inglés es un gran diferenciador para su trabajo, una gran fortaleza que tienen tanto ella, como su hermana Maye y Fernando.
“Eso es gracias a nuestros padres, que nos reforzaron el español en la casa siempre” dice Maye. “Gracias a ellos lo hablamos bien”.
Aun cuando muchas veces las composiciones les salen primero en inglés, Ana y Maye tienen material original en español “es casi inevitable, no puedes ignorar lo del español, lo latino. Somos nacidos en Venezuela los tres y no puedes ignorar ese origen” dice Ana.
“Yo aún estoy explorando esa puerta” explica Fernando, “al principio la idea era solo componer en ingles”. Después de ver el éxito que ha comenzado a llegar y que el dominar los dos idiomas les hace muy especiales están considerando seriamente la posibilidad de componer en los dos idiomas.
“Hacer música en Doral es una oportunidad, hay mucha gente bilingüe y todo el mundo escucha todo tipo de música diferente” dice Fernando. “En mi casa he aprendido a amar todos los géneros: salsa, merengue; tuvimos nuestra fase de rap, de reggaetón, de Pop/Rock, todo el mundo tiene algo diferente que ofrecer. “
Proyectos y agradecimientos
A su regreso de Los Ángeles Ana, Maye y Fernando han finalmente caído en cuenta del compromiso que poco a poco han adquirido con su familia, con sus admiradores y consigo mismos al trabajar juntos y producir en equipo tanto material de alta calidad. “Las piezas del rompecabezas van cayendo en su sitio”, dice Ana, “y sentimos que estamos en el camino correcto”.
“Cada uno de nosotros es diferente como músico, pero cuando nos juntamos tenemos como un ‘new flavor’” dice Maye. Y Fernando añade “este viaje a Los Ángeles fue una puerta donde yo entré y me vi en el centro de atención, me di cuenta que tenemos que tomarnos en serio porque todo el mundo nos está tomando en serio.”
Porque los resultados no han sido cuestión de suerte, sino consecuencia de mucho esfuerzo. Ellos han estado componiendo juntos desde hace casi 4 años y prácticamente sin darse cuenta han madurado como grupo. El éxito obtenido con el video y con la presentación profesional en Los Ángeles simplemente vino a demostrarles que están bien encaminados para lograr sus metas. “Fue como que alguien nos estaba dando un aplauso, para demostrarnos que vamos por buen camino” dice Fernando.
Los próximos pasos son ponerle un nombre al trio y comenzar a grabar el material que ya tienen listo. Este es el proyecto a corto plazo: producir su primer disco en conjunto.
Mientras tanto siguen creando y siguen soñando con llegar cada vez más lejos y con poder en un futuro no muy lejano estar dando el discurso de aceptación de algún premio importante. Quieren Grammys. Ana quiere Emmys, Tonys y un Oscar.
“El otro día yo me puse a hacer una lista de toda la gente que me ha dado una mano en esto y hay que hacer la lista, porque no me quiero imaginar a una persona que te ayudó ahí pensando ‘no dijo mi nombre’. Uno tiene que dar las gracias a todo el mundo” dice Fernando y Maye agrega “la gente siempre dice algo así inspirador cuando recibe un premio y yo diría que a las escuelas nunca se les quiten los departamentos de arte, porque siempre es la primera cosa que quitan cuando los colegios están pasando por problemas económicos y son muy importantes, porque es donde la gente se expresa.”
Ana, Maye y Fernando son orgullosamente egresados de Ronald Reagan/Doral Senior High School y su aprecio por los profesores Bermúdez, Romero y Madruga son profundos, tanto que les acreditan como parte de las personas más influyentes en el éxito que tienen hoy en día. Maye lo resume así: “el Profesor Álvaro Bermúdez nos enseñó a tocar la guitarra. Y luego Mrs. Alicia Romero, fue mi profesora de canto y Alexandro Madruga, me dio la oportunidad de cantar por primera vez en público mis canciones originales; eso fue gracias a él. Les debo muchísimo a esos tres personajes. El departamento de arte de Reagan es increíble.”
Las redes sociales como herramienta para lograr el éxito
“Gracias a YouTube fuimos a Los Ángeles. Esta generación la tenemos demasiado fácil para que el mundo nos escuche con las redes sociales” dice Ana. “Al mismo tiempo puede ser malo, porque puedes ver toda la competencia que tienes. Lo importante es que lo que hagas sea diferente, sin intentar copiar a los demás. Eso se destaca” completa Maye.
“Nosotros tuvimos una larga conversación sobre eso antes de hacer el video” dice Fernando “Llevábamos tanto tiempo tocando y componiendo y no teníamos ni un video en YouTube. No es coincidencia que con el primer video nos pasara todo esto. ¡Gracias a Dios que pasó, porque entendimos!”
“El universo nos dice que vamos por buen camino, que no estamos cometiendo errores y que todo fluye. Sentimos que estamos haciendo las cosas bien. Cada pieza es como un paso que nos dice que sigamos adelante. Me pongo a ver todo lo que hemos hecho y lo que viene y siento que es lo correcto,” dice Ana.
Maye completa la idea: “también te hace sentir honrado porque vas a mostrarle al mundo lo que tienes para ofrecer. El objetivo es que el mundo escuche la música y el arte que está dentro de nosotros y que la gente que desee hacer las mismas cosas pueda ver que es posible. En conclusión: estamos súper agradecidos por hacer lo que nos gusta, por tener el apoyo que tenemos y al ver que la gente cree en nosotros eso te hace sentir que ellos también lo están viendo, que están viendo el cuadro completo y que es muy hermoso.”
