“On behalf of Miami-Dade County Public Schools, I am happy to announce that the Andrea Castillo Preparatory Academy, a new K-8 educational center, will open its doors in the City of Doral this August for the 2020-2021 school year. Located at 10201 NW 78 Street in Doral, the school will open as a K-8 center, initially offering PreK through 1st grade, adding a grade each year thereafter until 8th grade”.
“The Andrea Castillo Preparatory Academy curriculum will include the Cambridge Model and the Extended Foreign Language (EFL) program,” stated District 5 School Board member Susie V. Castillo. “Both the caliber of the curriculum and the focus on foreign language are exciting news for the students and families that will call this school home,” Castillo concluded.
The Cambridge Model, a part of England’s renown and prestigious Cambridge University, is the world’s largest provider of K – 12 international education programs and is used in 160 countries by over 9000 schools to create global learning communities. It is recognized worldwide for high standards, high quality, and academic rigor.
The MDCPS EFL program will offer an immersive Spanish language program with a school within a school approach to world language education. The goal of the program is to offer students the opportunity to become Spanish proficient in all modalities – speaking, reading, and writing. At the elementary level the program is designed for a group of students at each grade level who, after participation in the program for one school year, are enrolled in the subsequent grade level with the ultimate goal of creating a K-5 continuum.
As the population in the City of Doral continues to grow, Miami-Dade Public Schools works diligently to make sure we are providing our students access to world-class education thereby positively impacting the overall well-being of all Doral families.
