JC Bermudez Doral Senior High School Opens Its Doors For The 2020-2021 School Year
“On behalf of Miami-Dade County Public Schools, I am happy to share that the JC Bermudez Doral Senior High School, The Thunder, will open its doors in the City of Doral this August for the 2020-2021 school year. Located at 5005 NW 112 Avenue in Doral, the school will initially offer 9th grade, adding a grade each year thereafter until 12th grade”.
“The curriculum will include the following programs and academies, connecting students to a myriad of businesses in Doral and industries filled with opportunities – Business/Entrepreneurship, Cambridge, Nursing/Medical Billing, Veterinary, and World Languages,” stated Susie V. Castillo, Miami-Dade County Public Schools Board Member for District 5. “This new high school is a wonderful addition to the amazing family of MDCPS schools in Doral,” added Castillo.
The facilities have been retrofitted with all new furniture and desks for students and staff. The incoming 9th graders will have a brand-new, state-of-the-art science and computer labs, each fitted with new tech equipment and promethean boards. Plans are already underway to begin construction for a new gym, sports fields, and an additional classroom building. This next expansion phase is expected to begin in August 2020.
In this inaugural year, the JC Bermudez Doral Senior High School will offer a vast array of athletics program to include coed soccer, volleyball and basketball, cross country, tennis, golf, baseball, bowling, wrestling, flag football, softball, tennis and track and field. Students will also have the opportunity to join various organizations, including national honor societies, such as NHS, Mu Alpha Theta and Rho Kappa (Social Studies Honor) and clubs such as Speech & Debate, cheer, dance, Student Government and Journalism/Yearbook.
