Not every youngster is art inclined, at least not in the strict fine arts sense, but most of them love to take photos.

El concurso fue creado por la Oficina de Educación del Consulado General de España para promover la herencia Colonial en la Florida, e invitaba a los estudiantes a demostrar su comprensión sobre la influencia de España en el pasado colonial de la Florida.

“Shelton Academy has been open for 2 years and its academic program has grown incredibly”, says Gabriella Ferr, one of the owners of this school. They began with less than 50 children and currently they have almost 150 students.

Miami English Spot was founded and is directed by Julio Rodriguez Bernier, who has over 20 years experience teaching English as a second language both in the United States and in Colombia.
Rodriguez explains, “Miami English Spot was created to serve the Hispanic community in the U.S., specifically to improve their language in order for them to grow socioeconomically and have more opportunities by speaking English. Our company provides a customized service at competitive prices, and uses an innovative methodology.”

Florida’s School Recognition Program acknowledges the quality of public schools by giving financial rewards based on sustained or significantly improved student achievement in reading, mathematics, science and writing.

This January, Mr. Ramon Garrigo was named Principal of Doral Middle School (DMS). The previous Principal at DMS, Ms. Marie Caceres, was assigned to Dr. Rolando Espinosa K-8 Center.

This past December our country experienced one of the most horrifying and unimaginable tragedies of modern history. The Connecticut shootings left the whole nation in disbelief and mourning; and our community was no exception to these sentiments. Doral is known for its first-rate schools, so we spoke to some of the principals of the schools in our city to see how they have reacted to these awful events.

Let’s remember the child’s drawings are based on his experiences and what is meaningful to him, as well as on emotional associations.

The Art Shack is not a traditional art academy, it is a space where through art, students have the opportunity to discover themselves in order to better adapt to the environment that surrounds them.
