Growing Interest for the 34th Golden Age Awards Gala in Miami
Miami, September 14, 2022. – The Latino Center on Aging (LCA) will celebrate its Thirty-Fourth Golden Age Awards presentation on October 8th at the Sheraton Miami Airport Hotel where Miami Mayor Daniella Levine Cava will Receive LCA’s Prestigious Award.
The 2022 Golden Age Award recipients are: Public Service Award – Miami-Dade Mayor, Daniella Levine Cava; Humanitarian Award – David Lawrence Jr., Author; Community Advocate Award – Laura Morilla, Miami-Dade Office of Community Advocacy; Corporate Social Responsibility Award – Caraline Coats, SF Medicare Regional President, Humana.
Also, Academic Excellence Award – Dr. Margaret Pericak-Vance, Director, John P. Hussman Institute for Human Genomics, University of Miami; Champion for Seniors Award – Florida Community Care & Florida Complete Care; Community Leadership Award – Dr. Marlow Hernández, CEO, Cano Health; Community Service Award – Armando Riera, President, National Organization of Hispanic Nurses; Effective Leadership Award – Marile & Jorge Luis Lopez, Esq., Marile & Jorge Luis Lopez Family Foundation; and Corporate Award – Lupe Bruneman, Regional Manager, Advocate Health Advisors.
The Hon. Josefina Carbonell from Independent Living Systems (ILS) and María Hidalgo from VITAS Healthcare are the event’s Co-Chairs. Event’s MC will be Jessica Vallejo, NBC 6 – News Personality. In attendance, as special guest, will be Jorge Masvidal, UFC Superstar. The Banquet promises to be an eventful black tie affair with extensive media coverage.
The Golden Age Awards were established in 1993 in New York and are given to individuals who have made significant contributions to the Latino/Hispanic communities throughout the world. Awards are given for effective leadership, lifetime contributions, public policy initiatives, corporate contributions and community involvement.

The Latino Center on Aging was founded in 1991 to enhance the living conditions of Hispanic elderly through education and advocacy. In South Florida the LCA has developed an intense activity during the past ten years by organizing a South Florida Advisory Board, a South Florida Hispanic Coalition for Aging and a weekly radio show on La Poderosa 670 AM.
In addition, the LCA has organized and implemented two national and seven local conferences on Latinos and Alzheimer’s in Spanish, six of them in Miami Lakes, Pembroke Pines, and Hallandale Beach.
