Miami-Dade County Adopt-A-Tree Season is now officially open.
– Be one of the first County residents this year to receive two FREE trees courtesy of Miami-Dade County’s Regulatory and Economic Resources Department. The first of two tree give away events will take place at the J. C. Bermudez Park, 3100 NW 87th Avenue this Saturday, September 15th starting at 9:00 am. Approximately 2,700 FREE trees will be available for adoption at this event, and experts will also be onsite to show participants how to properly plant and care for their new trees. Trees will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis, while supplies last. The second event will take place at Miami Dade College North Campus on Sunday, October 21st.
Together with the Miami-Dade Water & Sewer Department, the Office of Sustainability will be providing compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs) and high efficiency showerheads to the residents who bring to the event their old showerheads and/or their most heavily used regular light bulbs (while supplies last). Also at this event, Electronic Recycling Center (ERC) will be collecting old electronics, faxes, computers, keyboards printers, telephones, calculators, TV’s, VCR’s and other obsolete electronics for appropriate recycling. Some old electronics can create environmental hazards if they are disposed of improperly.
