NEW MIDDLE SCHOOL AND HIGH SCHOOL FOR DORAL
With a capacity for 1,300 students
It is part of the new projects of Codina Partners, LLC in Downtown Doral

As part of the development plans of our community, City Council approved unanimously the construction of a new academic institution dedicated to the instruction of Middle and High School students.
The approval of this building is part of the modification of the original agreement between the City of Doral and Codina Partners, LLC, who are developing a mix use complex (residential and commercial) in Downtown Doral and that are already maintaining an Elementary school that offers two languages, additionally to English: Spanish and Portuguese.
The idea for this new school, with a total capacity of 1,300 students (650 for Middle School and 650 for High School) is for it to be a 6th -12th grade institution and that it keeps first class educational standards as the ones that Downtown Doral Charter Elementary School is keeping today.
These students will be additional to the ones that can be serviced at Downtown Doral Elementary School with capacity for 800 students, that is filling up gradually until it gets to its total capacity.
Ana Codina, Head of Codina Partners, LLC expressed that now that they have received the final approval from the City of Doral, they will start working on the plans and the operational part of this project that comes as a piece of the development plans of this company whose purpose is to work in pro of the quality of life of the actual and future residents of the city.
As of today, it is not yet known if this school will operate as a Charter School or if it will have the support of the City of Doral or the School Board of Miami Dade, what is really important is that it will help ease the demand for more schools today in our community.
One of the biggest requirements for the residents of our city, in view of the residential growth that Doral has experienced in the past years and that will continue experiencing are more, better and different types of educational options.
It is important to highlight that this new school is part of the modification of the agreement that was established between the City of Doral and Codina Partners, LLC and that includes also changes to the spaces assigned to Downtown Doral for the commercial and residential development in benefit of common and recreation areas, and also to the academic spaces.
Therefore, it is deemed that this modification to the original agreement will be beneficial for our city because it includes a balanced mix of housing, educational and recreational buildings together with an important commercial component that stimulates the economic and labor growth of Doral.
It is important to remember that the agreement between the City of Doral and Codina Partners, LLC has already been modified in order to allow for the construction of a Cultural Center in the area next to Downtown Doral Park, this area known as the “Triangular Park” will have the objective to offer to the residents of Doral an adequate space for the development of cultural activities.
This space counts with 12 thousand 500 square feet and will be used for the construction of a Cultural Center for art exhibits, conferences, meetings, theatrical shows, concerts and many other cultural activities, this will assist with one of the most urgent needs of our city which is the lack of an appropriate space for the creation of events related to art and culture.
Before approving any of these type of projects, the staff and members of City Council take into consideration that on top of building with freedom of design, creativity and innovation, the development of the projects meet the architectural and planning demands of our city.
In fact, today there are several mix use projects that stimulate the concept of live, work, play and learn in the same area that are changing the way the real estate market is developing, creating more economic opportunities and consolidating the innovation and diversity in this region.
It is equally important that these comply with the main requisite of providing a positive impact in the residential and commercial development of the city and that it guarantees direct benefits to its residents, as it will be the construction of this new school.

La construcción de una nueva institución académica destinada a prestar servicios educativos a los alumnos de Middle School y High School fue unánimemente aprobada por el Concejo Municipal de la Ciudad de Doral, como parte de los planes de desarrollo de nuestra comunidad.
La aprobación de la edificación de esta escuela forma parte de la modificación del acuerdo original firmado entre el Ayuntamiento de Doral y la empresa Codina Partners, LLC, la cual desarrolla un complejo de uso mixto (residencial y comercial) en el centro de nuestra ciudad y que ya mantiene funcionando un Elementary School en el que se ofrece educación en dos idiomas adicionales al inglés, español y portugués.
Se aspira que este centro educativo, que tendrá capacidad para atender a un total de mil 300 alumnos (650 de Middle School y 650 High School) funcione desde sexto hasta doceavo grado, manteniendo los estándares de primera calidad educativa, ofrecidos en Downtown Doral Charter Elementary School.
Estos alumnos se sumarían a los que ya son atendidos en Downtown Doral Charter Elementary School que tiene capacidad para recibir a 800 estudiantes, los cuales irán integrándose paulatinamente, hasta completar la totalidad de esta matrícula escolar.
Ana Codina, directiva principal de la empresa Codina Partners, LLC, manifestó que, ahora que ya han recibido la aprobación de la Ciudad de Doral empezaran a trabajar en los planos y la parte operativa de este gran proyecto que se integra a los planes de desarrollo de esta compañía que trabaja en pro de la calidad de vida de los residentes actuales y futuros de la ciudad.
Por lo momentos, se desconoce si esta nueva entidad educativa funcionará como Charter School o recibirá el apoyo de la Ciudad de Doral o de la Junta Escolar del condado de Miami-Dade, pero lo que es realmente importante es que vendrá a aliviar la demanda de mayores escuelas existente en la actualidad en nuestra comunidad.
Y es que ante el crecimiento residencial que ha experimentado nuestra ciudad en los últimos años, el cual parece seguir avanzado, la necesidad de mayores escuelas es uno de los mayores requerimientos de los habitantes que ven en la construcción de nuevas instituciones educativas, mejores y más variadas opciones educativas para sus hijos.
Es importante destacar este nuevo centro educativo forma parte de la modificación del acuerdo establecido entre la Ciudad de Doral y la empresa Codina Partners, LLC, que incluye cambios en los espacios asignados a Downtown Doral para el desarrollo comercial y residencial en beneficio de las áreas comunes y de recreación, así como de los espacios académicos.
De esta forma, se estima que la modificación al acuerdo original es beneficiosa para nuestra ciudad, al contemplar una mezcla equilibrada de viviendas, usos educacionales y recreativos, así como un importante componente comercial que estimula el crecimiento económico y laboral de Doral.
Es importante recordar que el acuerdo entre la Ciudad de Doral y la empresa Codina Partners, LLC ya había sido modificado anteriormente para permitir la construcción de un Centro Cultural en el área adyacente al Downtown Doral Park, conocida como “Parque Triangular”, con el objetivo de ofrecer a los residentes de Doral un espacio adecuado para el desarrollo de actividades culturales.
Este espacio está conformado por 12 mil 500 pies cuadrados y será destinado a la construcción de un Centro Cultural para la realización de exhibiciones de arte, charlas, conferencias, montajes teatrales, conciertos y demás actividades culturales, lo cual viene a suplir una de las necesidades urgentes de nuestra ciudad que es la carencia de un espacio adecuado para el desarrollo de eventos relacionados con el arte y la cultura.
Antes de aprobar este tipo de proyectos, los directivos y miembros del Concejo Municipal de la Ciudad de Doral, toma en consideración que, además de construir bajo los conceptos de libertad de diseño, creatividad e innovación en el desarrollo de la tierra, se ajusten a las exigencias arquitectónicas y de planificación de nuestra localidad.
De hecho, en la actualidad, hay varios proyectos de uso mixto de reurbanización que estimulan el concepto de vivir, trabajar, entretenerse y aprender en un mismo sitio que están cambiando el patrón de desarrollo inmobiliario, creando mayores oportunidades económicas y consolidando la innovación y la diversidad en la región.
Es igualmente importante que cumplan con el requisito indispensable de impactar positivamente el desarrollo habitacional y comercial de la ciudad y garantice beneficios directos para sus residentes, tal como vendría siéndolo la construcción de este nuevo centro educativo.
