SFLHCC Successfully Hosts Women’s Awards Luncheon

DORAL, FL – The South Florida Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (SFLHCC) successfully hosted the Women Empowering and Embracing Awards Luncheon at the Biltmore Hotel.

This event highlighted the support from the Miami-Dade County Fair & Exposition, Inc. towards the Chamber President, Liliam Lopez, and Dr. (h.c.), promoting women’s empowerment.

During the Awards Luncheon, the board celebrated Mari Tere Rojas, Chairperson of the Miami-Dade County Public Schools, recognized in a book about Cuban American women making history. Arnhilda Badia was also acknowledged for the release of her new book, “Cuban American Women Making History,” available at Books & Books and Amazon.

The event emphasized the crucial role of women’s empowerment as a catalyst for social progress, fostering an environment where women can achieve their full potential. The 2023 honorees at the Women Empowering and Embracing Awards made a significant impact in the community.

Notable categories included Community Service, Mentorship, Corporate Achievement, Leadership, Education, Advocacy, Healthcare, Wellness Influence, Legal, Public Service, and Man of the Year, awarded to Roland Sanchez-Medina Jr., recognizing his exceptional support for HWSN and presented by the Honorable Florida State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle.

The awards ceremony featured a sky-blue theme, symbolizing strength and unity, with Nicklaus Children’s Hospital as the Presenting Sponsor and Brugal Rum as the Liquor Sponsor. Keynote Speaker Jennifer McCafferty-Fernandez, Senior Vice President of External Affairs & Experience, Chief of Staff to the CEO of Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, added to the inspirational atmosphere.

Additional data highlighted the positive impact of women in businesses, with 42% of all U.S. businesses being women-owned, and gender-diverse executive teams contributing to above-average profitability by 25%.

In summary, the event recognized and honored outstanding women leaders for their exceptional contributions, leadership, resilience, and dedication to empowering and supporting other women.
