Construction at Doral Central Park Begins!

Para leer en Español

March 2021 marks the kickoff of construction at Doral Central Park for what will be the an impressive, multipurpose, and multigenerational park that everyone can enjoy. The park will be closed to the public beginning on March 1st until further notice with Phases 2 and 3 scheduled to be completed in 2022 and Phase 4 completed in 2023.

The build-out of the 82-acre park is one of the Doral Parks Bond projects, approved by Doral voters.

The design of the park and amenities included address the community’s needs as identified in the Parks System Master Plan. It was a two-year process to complete the plan that included needs assessment, a statistically valid community survey, and several community workshops to gain community feedback.

Some key needs from the community that will be addressed in the new Doral Central Park are more passive open spaces, nature areas, as well as an amphitheater for cultural events. A public aquatic facility has also long been a need for the City, as there are currently no public pools in Doral. With this project, this will be Doral’s 1st aquatic facility!

Amenity Highlights:

  • 70,000 sq. ft Indoor Recreation Center- including a fitness center, indoor basketball gym, child watch area, teen room, Silver Club room, multipurpose rooms
  • Aquatics Facility:
    • Competition pool, training pool, recreation side, multipurpose rooms
  • Amphitheatre
  • Baseball/Softball Fields
  • Multi-use sports fields
  • Skate Spot & Pump Track
  • Outdoor fitness areas
  • Nature Areas & Kayak launch
  • Multiple Playgrounds
  • Tennis, Basketball & Sand Volleyball Courts
  • Lake-front promenade & cultural plaza
  • And more!

While City of Doral work to bring this incredible project to life for our community, we invite the public to enjoy our other world-class parks! For more passive activity, we recommend the trail network and the Doral Glades Park boardwalk, and nature path.

  • How long is the bike loop?

  • How long until we can start using it again? I miss this park.

  • Where can I find the project status for our park and when will phase 2 and 3 be finished in 2022 as I am not seeing this kind of construction taking place.

  • Any chance to have something for running? I used to run there it was good and safe, I miss it.

  • Is there any update on the construction ? I don’t see any movement at all.

    Park closed and 0 updates.Terrible.

  • We are nearing end of 2022 no visible progress in the park. Construction trailers and plastic pipes nothing going up nothing close to a park. What is the project status? What is the timeline? Who in the city is running this project? There have been no updates .

  • Doral is in many ways another Hialeah and not the Doral that it once was .

A group of self serving and inept politicians completely owned by developers .

ZERO accountability is sadly the Miami Hispanic politicians way .

  • The park is beginning to take off again. Talk to your mayor, city commissioners, and politicians. Whom got involved more than they should have and decided to blow the original budget and create many changes increasing the original budget by ~ 30 million. The park will not be open until the end of 2023 and that is phase one. Other phases to follow pending any other change orders and whether be patient the sidewalk is free.

  • Why is there no soccer field?

  • Capt,
Great point ” Talk to your mayor, city commissioners, and politicians. Whom got involved more than they should have and decided to blow the original budget and create many changes increasing the original budget by ~ 30 million”
