2021 FutureEdge 50 Awards

The City of Doral has been selected as a winner of the CIO (Chief Information Officer) 2021 FutureEdge 50 Awards as an organization pushing the edge with new technologies to advance their business for the future. The City is the only city among the winners and the award is based on the Real-Time Operations Center Innovative Technology recently inaugurated at the Doral Police Department. The judges evaluated a large and highly competitive field of nominations, and they recognized our city’s innovation and business acumen with digital.

Innovations in this year’s class include a wide variety of technologies advancing organizations across many industries. The city of Doral ranks among top industry leaders such as IBM, Zoom, Intel for the use of complex data aggregation initiatives with artificial intelligence and machine learning with our Real-Time Operations Center diverse technologies which support diverse outcomes for public safety. Winners improved products and services through the adoption of edge computing and supply chain efforts with IoT (internet of things).

As one of the winners, Doral will join the discussion and be celebrated at CIO’s Future of Work Summit taking place online September 21-23, 2021. This highly successful semiannual event focuses on how organizations are adapting to the evolving business landscape with advances in automation, cloud native applications, and many other digital innovations – aligning with the types of projects honored by the award.

 

Achievement Award from the Florida Green Building Coalition (FGBC)

The Florida Green Building Coalition (FGBC), the state’s leading certifier of green residential and commercial construction and local governments, has announced the 2020 Annual Achievement Awards winners for Builder of the Year, Highest Scoring Projects, and Certifying Agent of the Year. The City of Doral has been awarded as one of the three finalists in the Local Government Category.

Promoting a State of Sustainability Since 2000, the non-profit Florida Green Building Coalition (FGBC) is the state’s leading certifier of green homes, buildings, communities, and local governments. Over two decades ago FGBC brought together industry professionals from the construction, government, academic, and research communities to create green standards tailored specifically to Florida. To date, it has certified over 25,000 residential, commercial, high-rise, land developments, and local governments participating in its certification programs. FGBC certification programs are the only standards developed with state specific criteria to address Florida’s hot-humid environment, climate, distinctive topography, unique geology, resiliency, and natural disasters.

 

Doral ranks #3 Best Small City for Small Business

Go.Verizon.com just released their fourth annual report on the Best Small Cities to Start a Small Business. Doral has ranked as #3! Despite a difficult year for the small business community, the team at Go.Verizon celebrates Doral’s ability to help its business owners persevere and thrive.

Rankings were based on data collected by Go.Verizon from nearly 300 cities country-wide with populations between 50,000 and 75,000. Factors considered were percentage of residents with at least a Bachelor’s degree, income per capita, tax score, etc.

The recognition credits Doral with an impressive show of innovation, making the jump from last year’s ranking of #14. In addition to its tax-friendly environment, the City is the second-most educated city on the list after Weston, FL. (over 51% of its citizens hold at least a bachelor’s degree). The city also has considerable broadband access and a booming work economy.
