M-DCPS receives an A rating for the fourth time in five years

DORAL, FL – Miami-Dade County Public Schools received a district-wide A rating on the 2022-2023 school grades released by the Florida Department of Education in Dec. 11. The announcement was made by School Superintendent Dr. Jose L. Dotres in a press conference where also School Board members were present. 

This new recognition means that for the fourth time in five years, M-DCPS continues to be an A-rated school district, according to a press release issued by the entity. 

Of Florida’s 67 school districts, only 16 received a grade of “A”. Miami-Dade Schools surpassed all of the state’s largest school districts, including Broward, Palm Beach, Duval and Pinellas counties.

This is the first year that the school grades contain elements of the new B.E.S.T. Standards assessments. “I’m happy to announce that even though we were faced with the challenge of new standards, our school system has demonstrated phenomenal academic results based on proficiency,” said Dr. Jose L. Dotres, according to M-DCPS website.  “We owe the students of this community the best teaching and learning environment, and I believe strongly that we have delivered once again.”

Following is a summary of the School Performance.

– M-DCPS is the only large district to receive a district-wide “A” rating on the 2023 Informational Baseline School Grades.

– M-DCPS was ranked #9 among the state’s 67 districts, based on the number of total points earned toward the district grade.

– Overall, 98% of M-DCPS schools received Informational Baseline School Grades of “A”, B”, or “C” in 2023:

– 44% received grades of “A”

– 27% received grades of “B”

– 27% received grades of “C”

– No traditional M-DCPS schools received a grade of “F” in 2023
