Doral Announces Call to Artists for the Acquisition of Works of Art
Doral, FL – The City of Doral has launched a Call to Artists requesting proposals from artists for the acquisition of works of art to be installed within the City of Doral. Proposals must be submitted prior to the deadline on February 8, 2022, at 5:00 p.m. to Elizabeth.Alvarez@cityofdoral.com. Selected works of art will not exceed $300,000 and will be installed in the City during Summer 2022.
The goal of the Call to Artists is to foster community pride and convey the sense of the Doral community through public art. The art should reflect the neighborhood and the City’s identity as the “premier place to live, work, learn and play”. It is also encouraged that proposed art highlight the components that make “Doral Shine”, such as sense a of family, unity, peace, and multiculturalism. Possible opportunities for public art include, but are not limited to sculptures, lighting features, fountains, and monuments.
This Call to Artists is part of the City’s Public Arts Program (Ordinance No. 2015-09) that aims to create a stimulating cultural environment that reflects and enhances the City’s heritage, diversity, quality of life, and character through public artworks integrated in the architecture, infrastructure, and landscape of our city.
