Graduate Medical Education Inaugural Ceremony.
On Wednesday, June 25th, Kendall Regional Medical Center held an inaugural ceremony for their two new Graduate Medical Education Residency Programs – General Surgery and Internal Medicine.
The General Surgery residency program is the first new allopathic (M.D.) training program to be established since 1952. There are 16 new residents in the General Surgery program and 10 in the Internal Medicine program. The General Surgery program is being led by Mark McKenney, M.D., F.A.C.S. and the Internal Medicine program is being led by Himangi Kaushal, M.D., F.A.C.P. The Podiatric and Surgery residency program, which is now entering its 15th year and led by Jorge Nasr, D.P.M., F.A.C.F.A.S., also had a new resident start.
The Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) has a rigorous process for accreditation of programs, in addition to stringent regulations regarding oversight. Kendall Regional Medical Center met all of the necessary requirements that ensure the medical residents receive the highest level of education and training. The residency programs and faculty will continue to foster and build an academic medicine environment that will offer the most innovative and progressive clinical care available.
