Neighbors, as promised, I want to share a few things about me and what I’ve accomplished with your support while serving the City of Doral. I’m a proud alum of both Miami-Dade College and Florida International University, where I received a Bachelor’s in Business Administration with concentration in Finance, Management, and Accounting. I also received a graduate Certificate from the University of Miami’s Good Government Initiative. In Doral, I transitioned into a successful adult, business-owner, and public servant. It is also where I chose to start a family. I married my husband Gabriel in 2010, and we had our first-born son, Gabriel Alexander, in 2016.

In 2012, I felt the call for public service and chose to undertake a “grass-roots” initiative in campaigning for Seat#3 on the Doral City Council. I knocked on over 5,000 doors and spoke with many residents. What I heard then, what I’ve experienced during my term, and what I have heard from our community now has led me to develop a strong set of principles regarding the governance of our City. As I stated last time, I believe Doral needs positive, professional, and proactive leaders dedicated to working together on the Council to implement a clear vision for our City’s future.

In addition, I believe Doral needs leaders that will stand alone, if necessary, to do what the residents feel is right for the City, as I did by taking a stand and voting alone as the voice for our residents on many important items such as wasteful spending in the budget, impacting taxes, family values, transparency, and high-density development. Nevertheless, we also need leaders who thrive at consensus building, and I believe that I have done this successfully and consistently while serving our City as a councilwoman and a school board member.

While serving our city, I’ve worked with my colleagues to further the organizations mission and obtained their support for many of my initiatives. I’ve applied fiscal responsibility to keep budgets and municipal taxes low and to maintain a healthy reserve. When I felt that budget expenditures did not meet fiscally responsible standards, I chose not to support the budget’s adoption. I created Doral’s first Repair and Replacement Reserve Fund to secure future funding for the well-being of City properties.

I’ve also advocated for greater transparency in government by supporting the school boards first SMART technology and the establishment of a transparency portal on our website, where every citizen can now see how their tax dollars are spent. I also established a policy to expand parental involvement, financial literacy, and safety in our schools.

Without a doubt, my priorities are consistent, and I remain dedicated to improving Doral’s quality of life, and to working hard in order to ensure that it remains a great place to live, work, learn, play, and raise a family for present and future generations. While my space here has as run out, for now, over the next few months, I look forward to elaborating more on what I’ve accomplished and my plans for our community. In the meantime, I urge you to reach out to me. Remember that by working together, we can achieve a bright and bold future for our City!
