Chevron ‘Fuel Your School’ program visits EBT K-8 Center
Chevron’s Fuel Your School supports Miami-Dade County Public Schools
On October 25, 2018, Chevron reinforced its commitment to supporting education by giving back to the community with special deliveries at Eugenia B. Thomas K-8 Center. The school received supplies for two classroom projects funded by Chevron’s Fuel Your School program, granting access to elementary students to technology, online interactive courses, and virtual labs.
Chevron’s Fuel Your School program is an innovative collaboration with DonorsChoose.org to support teachers and help fund classroom materials for local public schools in Miami-Dade County. Since 2013, Chevron’s Fuel Your School Program has raised over $2.5 million for South Florida public and public charter schools.
“We are honored to be here at the Eugenia B. Thomas K – 8 Center to give back to the community,” said George Wall, Vice President of Americas Products, U.S. East and Latin America, at Chevron. “The Fuel Your School program is part of Chevron’s overall support for education, helping to provide teachers with the tools to help prepare students for the jobs of the future.”
Also in attendance were City of Doral Mayor Juan Carlos Bermudez, Councilwoman Claudia Mariaca, State Representative Manny Diaz Jr. and Max Alvarez, Founder, and President of Sunshine Gasoline Distributors.
The Fuel Your School program can help make a big impact on the public school students in Miami-Dade County and their future. To date, Chevron’s Fuel Your School program has helped fund 2,798 classroom projects at 354 schools in Miami-Dade County.
This year, besides supporting education, Chevron has also donated $500,000 to assist with Hurricane Michael recovery efforts. The donation will be evenly split between the American Red Cross and Volunteer Florida to help the community as they put their lives back together.
